6. Physiological responses to acute physical and psychosocial stress- relation to aerobic capacity and exercise training
Sammanfattning : Exercise training is an effective method to promote health and to prevent development of disease. Both physical and mental health have been shown to benefit from exercise training. It has also been speculated that physical exercise might affect responses to acute psychosocial stress. LÄS MER
7. Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation, physical fitness, and physical activity in cardiac disease
Sammanfattning : Background: Evidence suggests that individualised exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation should be offered to patients with ischemic heart disease and chronic heart failure (HF) because it improves physical fitness and health-related quality of life (HR-QoL), and reduces cardiac mortality and hospital admissions. If physiotherapist-led exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (PT-X) can similarly improve physical fitness in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), and improve physical activity levels in patients with chronic HF or permanent AF, has been sparsely studied. 8. Left Ventricular Dynamics During Exercise in Endurance Athletes
Sammanfattning : Large quantities of data have described left ventricular adaptation to endurance training, but basic concepts on left ventricular performance during exercise remain controversial. In this thesis, we present the results of studies of left ventricular dynamics during exercise in 89 endurance-trained athletes. LÄS MER
9. Aspects of physical activity in Rheumatoid Arthritis : associations with inflammation and cardiovascular risk factors
Sammanfattning : Background: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD), partially attributable to systemic inflammation and traditional risk factors for CVD. Since physical activity (PA) is strongly related to CVD in the general population, the aim of this thesis was to describe aspects of PA in patients with RA, and further to analyse associations with disease activity, traditional risk factors for CVD and subclinical atherosclerosis. 10. Women with Primary Sjögren´s Syndrome Assessment and Treatment A Physiotherapeutic Perspective
Sammanfattning : Primary Sjögren´s syndrome (primary SS) is a systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease characterized by lymphocytic infiltrations in the exocrine glands leading to classic dryness complaints such as dry eyes and dry mouth. Non-exocrine complaints also occur, e.g. fatigue, myalgia and arthralgia, as well as disturbed mood. LÄS MER
