  1. 16. Behavioral and Electrophysiological Correlates of Inhibition in Episodic Memory

    Författare :Gerd Waldhauser; Institutionen för psykologi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; memory control; inhibition; EEG; ERP; forgetting;

    Sammanfattning : Forgetting can be highly functional when unwanted or irrelevant memory representations interfere with cognitive or motivational goals. Current theory assumes that forgetting can be brought about by the intentional or unintentional inhibition of interfering memory representations. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Cognitive and neural mechanisms of inflectional morphology processing : Studies of native speakers and second language learners of Swedish

    Författare :Andrea Schremm; Allmän språkvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; morphology; inflection; linguistic tone; ERP; cortical thickness; oscillatory phase synchrony; left anterior negativity; second language acquisition; response times; implicit learning; computer assisted learning;

    Sammanfattning : The present dissertation investigates inflectional morphology processing in native speakers and second language (L2) learners of Swedish. Results of Study 1 suggest that two separate neural mechanisms might be available for native comprehension of inflected words, as reflected in event-related brain potentials obtained for visually presented verb forms. 3. 18. Neural and behavioural mechanisms underlying the processing of negated meanings : Words, pictures and sentences

    Författare :Sara Farshchi; Kognition och Discourse@Lund (SKD@L) Språk; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; negation; scalar meanings; artificial language learning; EEG; ERP; semantic incongruities; N400; P600; sentence processing; auditory processing;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis combines a number of methodologies and measures in order to address the processing of two types of negation (with not and un) in relation to each other and to non-negated affirmative meanings. The four investigations in this thesis target the processing of these meanings at different levels, namely the word level (Study 1) and sentence level (Studies 2–4). LÄS MER

  4. 19. Second language acquisition in 6- to 8-year-old native Spanish-speaking children : ERP studies of phonological awareness, semantics, and syntax

    Författare :Annika Andersson; Helen J. Neville; Edward Vogel; Ulrich Mayr; Eric Pederson; USA University of Oregon; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; ERP; L2; language development; Semantics; phonological awareness; syntax; children 3-8 years of age ; Psychology; Psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Most people in the world and about a fifth of all school-aged Americans speak at least two languages. Nevertheless, little is known about second language (L2) processing in development, even though language proficiency is strongly related to success in almost all domains. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Novel measure of olfactory bulb function in health and disease

    Författare :Behzad Iravani; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Present neuroimaging techniques are capable of recording the neural activity from all over the brain but the olfactory bulb (OB). The OB is the first olfactory processing stage of the central nervous system and the site of insult in several neurological disorders, particularly Parkinson’s disease (PD). LÄS MER
