  1. 1. Project Evaluation in Development Cooperation : A Meta-Evaluative Case Study in Tanzania

    Författare :Mikiko Cars; Jan-Ingvar Löfstedt; Roy Carr-Hill; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; meta-evaluation; social programme evaluation theories and methodology; international development cooperation; development evaluation; community based approach; actor oriented approach; participatory monitoring and evaluation; responsive-constructivist evaluation; Tanzania; International education; Internationell pedagogik;

    Sammanfattning : The research reported here is a meta-evaluative case study of project evaluation in the context of Official Development Cooperation (ODC) in the education sector in Tanzania, where the particular focus is on capturing the relative values attached to evaluation by various stakeholder groups.Perspectives from the constructivist paradigm are adopted, implying relativist ontology, subjectivist epistemology, and naturalistic interpretive methodology. 2. 2. Design and optimization of parallel haptic devices : Design methodology and experimental evaluation

    Författare :Suleman Khan; Kjell Andersson; Jan Wikander; Ölvander Johan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Medical simulation; 6-DOF haptic devices; design methodology.; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The simulation of surgical procedures, in the case of hard tissues such as bone or teeth milling, using a haptic milling surgery simulator requires a haptic device which can provide high stiffness and transparency. To mimic a real milling process of hard tissue, such as for example creating a narrow channel or cavity, the simulator needs to provide force/torque feedback in 5–6 degrees of freedom (DOF). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Smart Homes and User Values : Long-term evaluation of IT-services in Residential and Single Family Dwellings

    Författare :Greger Sandström; Ulf Keijer; Brian Atkin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; accessibility; developer; dwelling; construction process; evaluation; home; housing; information technology; intelligent building; long-term; model; post-occupancy evaluation; resident; service delivery; smart home; trust; usability; usefulness; user; user evaluation; user experience; user value; Architecture; Arkitektur;

    Sammanfattning : Do residents find value in smart home functions? How should these functions be designed to offer user benefit? These were the governing questions of this study that involved nearly 200 families in three different housing projects during five years of occupancy. The housing units were equipped with advanced smart homes solutions, electronic and digital devices to control them, and a set of functions to increase comfort, safety and security in the homes. 4. 4. Improved Bridge Evaluation

    Författare :Hendrik Schlune; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; model updating; structural identification; Bridge evaluation; concrete structures; finite element analysis; finite element method; load cases;

    Sammanfattning : Accurate structural models are required for optimal management of existing bridges and economical new ones. However, unavoidable modelling uncertainties and difficulty in modelling the non-linear response of concrete bridges can lead to structural models which do not fulfil this requirement. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Science mapping and research evaluation : a novel methodology for creating normalized citation indicators and estimating their stability

    Författare :Cristian Colliander; Rickard Danell; Olle Persson; Jesper Schneider; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; document-document similarity; science mapping; citation analysis; citation normalization; stability analysis; citation impact; research evaluation; library and information science; biblioteks- och informationsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis is to contribute to the methodology at the intersection of relational and evaluative bibliometrics. Experimental investigations are presented that address the question of how we can most successfully produce estimates of the subject similarity between documents. LÄS MER
