    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the differences in how ethinic groups co-exist in two different environments in the same country, with a focus on the ethno-political. My research questions are: Why are ethnic or interpersonal relations characterized differently in different regions? How and why do conflicts or agreements arise in specific environments? The aim is to understand the connection between inter-ethnic relations and environmentally specific factors. LÄS MER

It illustrates the importance of linking the survival of an ethnic group with the issue of land ownership.     Sammanfattning : In the beginning of the 1990s the responsibility for the compulsory schools shifted from the government to the local authorities, a freedom of choice was introduced, and several municipalities brought in a school voucher system. With these changes, the educational system in Sweden went from being one of the world’s most government dominated and unified, to one with a high level of freedom of choice. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Background: Nearly 20% of Sweden’s population are immigrants and research has identified inequalities in mental health between certain immigrant groups and the native Swedish population. The role of social integration factors such as social capital, defined as: “features of social organization such as networks, norms, and social trust that facilitate coordination and cooperation for mutual benefit”, has been minimally explored in understanding differences in immigrant health.     Sammanfattning : Studies on ethnic residential segregation analyze how the inter-neighborhood mobility of individuals shapes their spatial distribution across cities. This literature has shown that the residential choices of households partly depend on the ethnic composition of their neighborhoods: higher in-group shares promote the presence of more in-group members, and vice versa.
