  1. 1. Essays on Sample Surveys : Design and Estimation

    Författare :Edgar Bueno; Per Gösta Andersson; Maria Giovanna Ranalli; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; GREG estimator; mixture distribution; probability proportional to size sampling; sampling algorithms; sampling design; sampling strategy; survey sampling; stratified sampling; Statistics; statistik;

    Sammanfattning : Sampling is a core stage in every survey. A sampling design carefully elaborated may imply not only a more accurate estimation of the parameters of interest, but also a reduction in the required sample size in a study. In this thesis we consider two particular but connected subjects. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Life Cycle Energy Optimisation: A multidisciplinary engineering design optimisation framework for sustainable vehicle development

    Författare :Hamza Bouchouireb; Ciarán J. O'Reilly; Peter Göransson; Rupert J. Baumgartner; José Potting; Mario Hirz; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Life cycle energy optimisation; Multidisciplinary optimisation; Integrative design; Sustainable vehicle design; Functional conflicts; Vehicle aerodynamics; Battery energy storage systems; Robust design; Uncertainty propagation; Livscykelenergi; Fordonsdesign; Optimering; Tvär-funktionella konflikter; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores how the systemic-level environmental footprint of light-duty vehicles could be reduced through integrative design using the Life Cycle Energy Optimisation (LCEO) methodology. This methodology aims at finding a design solution that uses a minimum amount of cumulative energy demand over the different phases of the vehicle's life cycle; while complying with a set of functional constraints, thereby avoiding any sub-optimal energy demand shifts between the vehicle's different life cycle phases. 3. 3. Optimal Design of Experiments for the Quadratic Logistic Model

    Författare :Ellinor Fackle Fornius; Hans Nyquist; Christos Kitsos; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Logistic regression; D-optimality; c-optimality; Canonical design space; Maximum likelihood estimation; Sequential design; Stochastic approximation; Statistics; Statistik; statistik; Statistics;

    Sammanfattning : Optimal design of experiments for binary data is the topic of this thesis. A particular logistic model including a quadratic term in the linear predictor is considered. Determining an optimal design for this model is complicated by the fact that the optimal design is dependent on the unknown true parameters. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Calibration Adjustment for Nonresponse in Sample Surveys

    Författare :Bernardo João Rota; Thomas Laitila; Sune Karlsson; Risto Lehtonen; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Auxiliary variables; Calibration; Nonresponse; principal com-ponents; regression estimator; response probability; survey sampling; two-step estimator; variance estimator; weighting; Statistics; Statistik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we discuss calibration estimation in the presence of nonresponse with a focus on the linear calibration estimator and the propensity calibration estimator, along with the use of different levels of auxiliary information, that is, sample and population levels. This is a fourpapers- based thesis, two of which discuss estimation in two steps. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Digital block transmission and time-of-flight estimation : receiver design and performance analysis

    Författare :Håkan B. Eriksson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with signal processing aspects of digital block transmission and time-of-flight estimation. Receivers are derived and analysed based on the assumption that the received signals have been corrupted with additive Gaussian noise and linear distortion. LÄS MER
