1. Combustion of solid waste from wood-based ethanol production
Sammanfattning : The solid residue from wood-based ethanol production has a low ash content and high heating value, making it interesting for combustion applications, e.g. small-scale appliances and gas turbines. Combustion and gasification properties have been studied using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). LÄS MER
2. Experimental and numerical studies of nonsmooth mechanical systems : applications of dimension estimation
Sammanfattning : .... LÄS MER
3. Accelerator-driven systems : safety and kinetics
Sammanfattning : The accelerator-driven system (ADS) is recognized as a promising system for the purpose of nuclear waste transmutation and minimization of spent fuel radiotoxicity. The primary cause for this derives from its accelerator-driven, sub-critical operating state, which introduces beneficial safety-related features allowing for application of cores employing fuel systems containing pure transuranics or minor actinides, thereby offering increased incineration rate of waste products and minimal deployment of advanced (and expensive) partitioning and transmutation technologies. 4. Resonant Waves in the Terrestrial Magnetosphere
Sammanfattning : Waves in the mHz frequency range are a prominent feature in the terrestrial magnetosphere. In this frequency range the waves have wavelengths comparable to the lengths of the geomagnetic field lines. The waves are then standing waves along closed field lines with endpoints in the southern and northern ionosphere. LÄS MER
5. Aerolastic simulation of wind turbine dynamics
Sammanfattning : The work in this thesis deals with the development of an aeroelastic simulation tool for horizontal axis wind turbine applications. Horizontal axis wind turbines can experience significant time varying aerodynamic loads, potentially causing adverse effects on structures, mechanical components, and power production. LÄS MER
