  1. 16. Analysis and Design of Rateless Codes

    Författare :Iqbal Hussain; Lars Kildehøj Rasmussen; Petar Popovski; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The invention of turbo codes and the re-discovery of sparse graph codes constitute a milestone in error-correction codes designed for communication and storage systems. Sparse graph codes such as low-density parity-check codes can offer a performance that approaches the previously elusive Shannon capacity with reasonable practical computational complexity. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Finite-Length Scaling Laws for Spatially-Coupled LDPC Codes

    Författare :Roman Sokolovskii; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; belief propagation decoding; spatially-coupled LDPC codes; window decoding; codes-on-graphs; finite-length code performance;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns predicting the finite-length error-correcting performance of spatially-coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) code ensembles over the binary erasure channel. SC-LDPC codes are a very powerful class of codes; their use in practical communication systems, however, requires the system designer to specify a considerable number of code and decoder parameters, all of which affect both the code’s error-correcting capability and the system’s memory, energy, and latency requirements. 3. 18. Bounds on the maximum coding rate of multiple-access channels and feedback channels

    Författare :Rahul Devassy; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : We provide upper and lower bounds on the coding rate of multiple-access channels (MACs) and feedback channels.Traditional MACs have been extensively studied under the assumption of availability of perfect channel state information (CSI).In Paper A we relax this assumption for a Rayleigh block-fading MAC and provide bounds on the sum-rate capacity. 4. 19. Silence : Disputes on the Ground and in the Mind among the Iraqw in Karatu District, Tanzania

    Författare :Lars Hagborg; Aud Talle; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Ethnology; dispute; conflict; reconciliation; narrative; Iraqw; Karatu; Tanzania; Etnologi; Ethnology; Etnologi; Kulturantropologi; Cultural Anthropology;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation argues that interpersonal disputes do not escalate among the Iraqw in Karatu district, Tanzania, because of an indigenous institution called wakari, which entails the erasure of all social contact between opponents in an irreconcilable dispute. In order to clarify the relationship between the role of wakari and other factors influencing the unfolding of a dispute, such as the role of the state, social structure and cultural values promoting peace, the dissertation discusses extensively how local communities have been integrated into colonial and post-colonial systems, and how meanings of peace, conflict, prosperity and poverty are articulated in different contexts by different actors. 5. 20. Genus och teknik i försäkringsbranschen : om mäns och kvinnors upplevelser av datoriserat arbete

    Författare :Anita Westerström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial Work Environment; Industriell produktionsmiljö;

    Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the impact of computerisation in the Swedish insurance industry from a gender perspective. Do women, by using computers obtain a greater control over the company's organisation (does the new technology act as systems transforming) or are control and use separated according to the principles of the gender system (does the new technology act as systems preserving)? The overall question for this thesis is to ascertain whether it is occupational status or gender that is crucial for employees' experience of computerisation. LÄS MER
