  1. 21. Spatial forest resource competition: an economic study : How increased competition and production flexibility affect woody feedstock markets

    Författare :Elias Olofsson; Robert Lundmark; Hanne Kathrine Sjölie; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the Swedish forestry and forest industry sectors, together with their adjoining markets, and examines how these sectors are currently positioned to meet future developments and demands. For this purpose, four specific research questions are formulated, focusing on: (1) the structural composition of forest industry sector and how it will be affected by an increasing feedstock competition; (2) the production flexibility of the forest industry; (3) the resource allocation and price effects from increased feedstock competition; and (4) the potential implications from improved harvesting efficiency. 2. 22. Essays on Asymmetric Information and Environmental Regulation through Disclosure

    Författare :Jorge H. García; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Social Norm; Imperfect Information; Environmental Policy; Pollution Control; Public Disclosure; Environmental Management; Bayesian Equilibrium; Panel Data; Bivariate Analysis; Indonesia; Central and Eastern Europe.;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation delves into different aspects of a relatively new policy approach for industrial pollution control: the public dissemination of information by regulators regarding the environmental performance of firms. These schemes are sometimes referred to as regulation through disclosure or informational regulation. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Bioenergy from the Swedish forest sector : a partial equilibrium analysis of supply costs and implications for the forest product markets

    Författare :Mattias Carlsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : As a response to policy requirements to improve energy security, and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the use of bioenergy in Sweden has more than doubled since 1980. In 2008 bioenergy use in Sweden amounted to 108 TWh, or 18% of the total supply of primary energy. Nearly all of this bioenergy supply originates from the domestic forest sector. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Greening Industry : Essays on industrial energy use and markets for forest raw materials

    Författare :Anna Mansikkasalo; Per Mickwitz; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Sammanfattning : The overall purpose of this thesis is to investigate market developments and policy issues that influence the environmental performance of the industry sector. The analysis concentrates mainly on the industry’s input use in the form of energy and forest raw materials. The thesis consists of an introductory part, and five self-contained papers. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Agents, auctions and interactions: Modelling markets for ecosystem services and renewable energy

    Författare :Liv Lundberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Market interactions; Cobweb model; Auctions for renewable energy; Environmental Policy; Renewable Energy; Payment for Ecosystem Services; Land-use competition; Bioenergy; Auctions; Agent-based modelling;

    Sammanfattning : If we are to mitigate climate change and tackle other pressing environmental issues such as biodiversity loss, environmental policies will be crucial. The papers in this thesis all focus on how individual behaviour and lack of information affects the outcome of environmental policy, using agent-based models where individual actors and their behaviour are explicitly modelled.
