1. Long Noncoding RNA Mediated Regulation of Imprinted Genes
Sammanfattning : Genomic imprinting is an epigenetic phenomenon that causes a subset of mammalian genes to be expressed from only one allele in a parent-of-origin manner. The defects in the imprinting regulation result in disorders that affect development, growth and metabolism. LÄS MER
2. Epigenetic Control of Mammalian Development : Studies on an imprinting control region
Sammanfattning : A subset of autosomal genes is preferentially or exclusively expressed from one of the parental alleles. This phenomenon, termed genomic imprinting, is highlighted by the neighboring Igf2 and H19 genes, which are monoallelically expressed on opposite parental chromosomes. These features are governed by a 2. LÄS MER
3. Human papillomaviruses : role in cervical dysplasia and carcinoma, and use as molecular risk marker for progression
Sammanfattning : The general aim of these studies was to define the role of infection with oncogenic human papillomaviruses (HPV) for development of cervical dysplasia and to obtain early molecular markers for progression to carcinoma. The results of cytological screening of 500 women in the Stockholm Gynaecologic Health Control were compared with HPV detection by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and in situ hybridisation (ISH). 4. Human papillomavirus in tonsillar cancer
Sammanfattning : Human papillomviruses (HPVs) are known to be causative agents for the development of cervical carcinoma. To what extent HPV is associated with head and neck cancer remains to be clarified, but an association to tonsillar cancer has been proposed. Importantly, the oncogenes of HPV-16, namely E6 and E7, are generally expressed in tonsillar cancer. LÄS MER
5. Oral cancer with special reference to virus detection and quantitative gene expression
Sammanfattning : Background. Head and neck cancers (HNC) are among the most common malignancies worldwide, and about 90–92% of oral neoplasias are oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCC). Alcohol and tobacco consumption have been recognized as the main risk factors for OSCC development. LÄS MER
