21. Growth factor receptor signalling in thyrocytes of normal and neoplastic origin
Sammanfattning : Cellular growth and function are controlled by stimulatory and inhibitory factors actingthrough specific receptors. The present thesis focuses on the role of growth factors, theirreceptors and signalling pathways in normal and neoplastic thyroid epithelial cell biology. LÄS MER
22. Cbl in Regulation of Growth Factor Receptor Endocytosis and Actin Dynamics
Sammanfattning : Proteins belonging to the Cbl family are multidomain scaffolds that participate in numerous processes, assembling signaling complexes and mediating attachment of ubiquitin to receptor and non-receptor tyrosine kinases. We characterized a novel role for Cbl and Cbl-b in ligand-dependent internalization of growth factor receptors. 23. GH Secretion in children. Methodological aspects of determining immunoreactive and bioactive isoforms
Sammanfattning : A child's hormone-dependent growth is dependent on multiple factors, although linear growth is closely associated with levels of growth hormone (GH) secretion. As GH in serum exists in several isoforms, some of which may not be identified by immunoassay, possible alterations in the secretion of these different isoforms in childhood may influence growth and/or metabolism. 24. Dynamics and gene expression of growth factor receptors in human cultured skin cells : Effects of UV radiation and calcium on EGF- and PDGF-receptors
Sammanfattning : Growth factors transmit biological signals for the stimulation of cell growth and their stimulation may be involved in turnourigenesis. It is therefore of great importance to understand growth factor receptor reactions in response to stimuli such as calcium depletion or ultraviolet radiation, which normal human cells are invariably exposed to during their growth cycle. 25. Current Medical Treatment of Endocrine Pancreatic Tumors and Future Aspects
Sammanfattning : We treated 16 patients with somatostatin analogs combined with α-interferon and achieved a biochemical and/or radiological response in 56% (median duration 22 months). We consider this treatment a good alternative for patients who fail during chemotherapy or who do not want to/cannot receive cytotoxic drugs. LÄS MER
