1. Engineering Candida antarctica Lipase A for Enantioselective Transformations in Organic Synthesis : Design, Immobilization and Organic Solvent Screening of Smart Enzyme Libraries
Sammanfattning : The use of enzymes as catalysts in organic synthesis constitutes an attractive alternative to conventional chemical catalysis. Enzymes are non-toxic and biodegradable and they can operate under mild reaction conditions. LÄS MER
2. Combinatorial protein engineering applied to enzyme catalysis and molecular recognition
Sammanfattning : The recent development of methods for constructing andhandling large collections (libraries) of proteins, from whichvariants with desired traits can be isolated, hasrevolutionized the field of protein engineering. Key elementsof such methods are the various ways in which the genotypes(the genes) and the phenotypes (the encoded proteins) arephysically linked during the process. LÄS MER
3. Directed Enzyme Evolution of Theta Class Glutathione Transferase : Studies of Recombinant Libraries and Enhancement of Activity toward the Anticancer Drug 1,3-bis(2-Chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea
Sammanfattning : Glutathione transferases (GSTs) are detoxication enzymes involved in the cellular protection against a wide range of reactive substances. The role of GSTs is to catalyze the conjugation of glutathione with electrophilic compounds, which generally results in less toxic products. LÄS MER
4. On bacterial formats in protein library technology
Sammanfattning : Millions of years of evolution have resulted in an immense number of different proteins, which participate in virtually every process within cells and thus are of utmost importance for allknown forms of life. In addition, there are several examples of natural proteins which have found use in applications outside their natural environment, such as the use of enzymes infood industry and washing powders or the use of antibodies in diagnostic, bioseparation or therapeutic applications. 5. Microbial Synthetic Biology, Systems Metabolic Engineering and Enzyme Engineering for Advanced Microbial Biodiesel Production with Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Sammanfattning : The continuous requirement of transportation biofuels has brought the necessity to establish alternatives permitting low-cost production of biodiesel while being environmentally friendly. Biodiesel production was achieved utilizing Saccharomyces cerevisiae by employing respective enzymes that catalyze the synthesis of fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEEs) based on fatty acyl-CoA molecules and ethanol.
