  1. 16. Observations of Artificial Radio Sources within the Framework of Geodetic Very Long Baseline Interferometry

    Författare :Grzegorz Klopotek; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; VGOS; Monte-Carlo simulations; geodetic VLBI; space geodesy; c5 ;

    Sammanfattning : Very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) is a mature and fascinating technique with unique and indisputable applications in radio astronomy, planetary sciences, and space geodesy. The latter discipline is a field of science facilitating our understanding of various global-scale phenomena connected to Earth dynamics. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Modelling the impacts of deicing salt on soil water in a roadside environment

    Författare :Annika Lundmark; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; unsaturated soil; soil hydraulic properties; plant water characteristics; Swedish hydrogeological environments; monitoring; operative model; CoupModel; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This study tested a dynamic modelling approach based on salt application, meteorological data and generic descriptions of hydrogeological environments for describing the spread of deicing salt to the surroundings and the corresponding increase in chloride storage in soil. Both the amount of chloride storage and the annual variation pattern were significantly altered due to deicing salt application and spread to the roadside environment. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Uncertainty in environmental decision-making : effects of defined or undefined guidance in the decision process

    Författare :Karin Luthbom; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Waste Science and Technology; Avfallsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Decision-making in environmental issues often includes uncertainty in the input data and the resulting uncertainty when the data is used. Some spatial decisions are however taken without any formal analysis, meaning that the decision-makers have a mental map and preconceived notions about the decision options before the final decision actually is taken. 4. 19. Accelerator Mass Spectrometry of 36Cl and 129I : Analytical Aspects and Applications

    Författare :Vasily Alfimov; Göran Possnert; Ala Aldahan; Hans-Arno Synal; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; Accelerator Mass Spectrometry; iodine-129; chlorine-36; gas-filled magnet; radioactive tracer; Arctic Ocean; Nordic Seas; North Atlantic; thermohaline circulation; Sellafield; La Hague; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Two long-lived halogen radionuclides (36Cl, T1/2 = 301 kyr, and 129I, T1/2 = 15.7 Myr) have been studied by means of Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) at the Uppsala Tandem Laboratory. The 36Cl measurements in natural samples using a medium-sized tandem accelerator (~1 MeV/amu) have been considered. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Freshwater methane and carbon dioxide fluxes : Spatio-temporal variability and an integrated assessment of lake and stream emissions in a catchment

    Författare :Sivakiruthika Natchimuthu; David Bastviken; Åsa Danielsson; Peter A. Raymond; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Lakes; streams; spatio-temporal variability; CH4 flux; CO2 flux; gas transfer velocity; Sjöar; vattendrag; rumsliga och tidsmässiga variationer; CH4-flöden; CO2-flöden; gasutbyteshastighet;

    Sammanfattning : Freshwater bodies such as lakes and streams release the greenhouse gases methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. Global freshwater CH4 and CO2 emissions have been estimated to be of a similar magnitude to the global land or ocean carbon sink, and are thus significant components of global carbon budgets. LÄS MER
