  1. 11. The chemistry of organic iodides under severe nuclear accident conditions in LWRs

    Författare :Sabrina Tietze; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic iodides; Wet-filter system scrubber ; Chlorine; Volatile iodine source term; Severe nuclear accident; Cables; Sorption; Containment; Paint; Iodine; LWR; Radiolysis;

    Sammanfattning : For many countries nuclear fission is an important part of their energy portfolio. However, a great concern is the occurrence of nuclear reactor accidents, which can result in the emission of radioactivity into the environment. LÄS MER

  2. 12. The toxicity of perfluoroalkyl acids in zebrafish (Danio rerio)

    Författare :Mazhar Ul haq; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are globally distributed synthetic chemicals. Their unique properties make them widely used, in industry and elsewhere. These are a group of compounds with varying carbon chain lengths and functional groups. The toxicity evaluation of PFAAs is important to better assess their organismal and environmental impact. 3. 13. Element transport in marine coastal ecosystems – modelling general and element-specific mechanisms

    Författare :Lena Konovalenko; Clare Bradshaw; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Modelling; bioaccumulation; concentration ratio; radionuclides; marine foodweb.; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding the behaviour of naturally-occurring and anthropogenically-derived radionuclides (isotopes) in the marine environment is important, because there is a need for their effective utilization either as in situ tracers or for industry, medical applications, the planning of waste-disposal facilities, and estimations of human and animal health risks. Radionuclides generally have the same chemical properties as their stable element analogues and thus show similar environmental behaviour and cycling to their stable counterparts. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Potential mechanisms for acute health effects and lung retention of inhaled particles of different origin

    Författare :Anna Klepczynska Nyström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Environmental particle exposure is known to have negative health effects. There is limited knowledge about how size and origin of particles influence these effects. There is also little known regarding the fate of ultrafine particles (particles in nanosize;< 100 nanometers in diameter) after being inhaled. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Reducing Radon Gas Emissions in Concrete

    Författare :Magnus Döse; Johan Silfwerbrand; Franz Josef Maringer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Radon gas; emissions; health; concrete; building materials; ionizing radiation; Betongbyggnad; Concrete Structures;

    Sammanfattning : Several compulsory regulations and recommendations regarding ionising radiation for building products have been introduced in recent years. Furthermore, industry-affiliated aggregate and concrete companies strive to implement environmental goals that should be fulfilled regarding building materials. LÄS MER
