  1. 6. Biomarkers in perch (Perca fluviatilis) used in environmental monitoring of the Stockholm recipient and background areas in the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Tomas Hansson; Lennart Balk; Ulf Rannug; Tracy Collier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biomarker; DDT; environmental monitoring; EROD; fish; GSI; nanoinjection; PAH; PCB; Perca fluviatilis; perch; reproduction; Environmental toxicology; Miljötoxikologi; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis reports the results of biomarker measurements in three environmental monitoring projects. In the first project, which was part of the Swedish national environmental monitoring, biomarkers were measured annually in female perch (Perca fluviatilis) in two background areas in the Baltic Sea during 1988–2000, resulting in a unique 13-year series of measurements. 2. 7. Urban environmental stewardship : Roles and reasons for civic engagements in governance of social-ecological systems

    Författare :Johan Enqvist; Maria Tengö; Örjan Bodin; Bengt Karlsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental governance; urbanization; social-ecological systems; Bangalore; India; collective action; naturresurshushållning; Natural Resources Management;

    Sammanfattning : Stewardship as a concept is increasingly brought forward as a goal to reach sustainability goals of ensuring human wellbeing within the limits of Earth’s life support systems. Scholarship on the required capacities for planetary stewardship is growing rapidly, as are the insights. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Wide-scope screening for contaminants of emerging concern in archived biota: Method development, suspect prioritisation, and non-target screening in a novel identification tool

    Författare :Wiebke Dürig; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Environmental monitoring of hazardous chemicals in wildlife conventionally uses target screening for selected contaminants, but relatively few contaminants are moni-tored and knowledge of potentially hazardous contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in wildlife is lacking. In this thesis, a non-target screening (NTS) method com-bined with temporal trend analysis was developed and applied as a prioritisation tool for identification of CECs in top predators, using high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). 4. 9. Strengthening the Environmental Sustainability of Production Systems through Digitalization

    Författare :Xiaoxia Chen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; digital technology; Industry 4.0; digitalization; manufacturing; mechanisms; environmental sustainability; production system; environmental benefits;

    Sammanfattning : Industrial companies are facing incremental pressure to strive for environmentally sustainable development. This can be attributed to their increased contribution to energy consumption and carbon emissions and the growing international attention focused on global warming. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Re-viewing industrial energy-efficiency improvement using a widened system boundary

    Författare :Svetlana Paramonova; Patrik Thollander; Mats Söderström; Stefan Grönkvist; Linköpings universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Improved energy efficiency in industry is important for reaching the targets within the EU strategy for increased sustainability. However, energy efficiency is not always prioritised within companies, and the improvement potential remains large. This paradox called an energyefficiency gap is explained by energy-efficiency barriers. LÄS MER
