21. Groundwater resources in hard rock coastal terrains : Insights into heterogeneity and spatial variability
Sammanfattning : Challenges regarding water security in hard rock coastal regions with limited soil cover are: a seasonal absence of recharge during times of peak residency, heterogeneity and variability of the fracture network, close proximity to saline water sources and spatially inconsistent storage and extraction. In areas where it is not feasible to connect residents to municipal water systems, a better understanding of the resilience of reservoirs is needed. LÄS MER
22. Contaminants of Emerging Concern in Swedish Freshwater Environments: Sources, Occurrence, and Impacts
Sammanfattning : Contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) is one of several reasons for the deterioration of surface water quality globally, even though the CECs occur in trace concentrations. This thesis produced new CEC data through a oneyear field study for substances which occur in Sweden’s three largest lakes and their associated rivers. LÄS MER
23. Resource recovery from wastewater treatment: challenges, opportunities and guidance for planning and implementation
Sammanfattning : Considering the current resources scarcity, Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) should be adapted to become more sustainable. For example, it is possible to recover resources present in municipal wastewater. LÄS MER
24. Taking stock of large-scale lithium-ion battery production using life cycle assessment
Sammanfattning : Battery electric vehicles are being increasingly favored as an alternative to internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs). This is mainly due to their lower environmental impact when compared to ICEVs over the vehicle’s lifetime. LÄS MER
25. Strengthening the Environmental Sustainability of Production Systems through Digitalization
Sammanfattning : Industrial companies are facing incremental pressure to strive for environmentally sustainable development. This can be attributed to their increased contribution to energy consumption and carbon emissions and the growing international attention focused on global warming. LÄS MER
