    Sammanfattning : Knowledge of dynamics in protein is very important in the description of protein function and molecular recognition. The thesis investigates protein dynamics on time-scales from milli- to sub-nanosecond, with focus on the latter, using NMR spin relaxation experiments on two proteins, the 138-residue carbohydrate recognition domain of galectin-3 (Gal3C) and the 56-residue B1 domain of bacterial protein G (PGB1). 2. 7. Protein Folding Studies on the Ribosomal Protein S6: the Role of Entropy in Nucleation

    Författare :Magnus Lindberg; Mikael Oliveberg; Jane Clarke; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; protein folding; circular permutation; topology; connectivity; entropy; protein stability; chevron plot; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : One of the most challenging tasks remaining in the field of biochemistry is the one of understanding how the information within the amino acid sequence of proteins translates into a unique structure. Solving this problem would lead to endless possibilities for application in the medical and biotechnology industry. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Characterization methods and modelling for Li-ion batteries: entropy, impedance, pressure, diffusivity & temperature swings induced aging

    Författare :Zeyang Geng; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; characterization methods; swelling; temperature swing; model; impedance; lifetime; Li-ion batteries; thermal; pressure; entropy; aging;

    Sammanfattning : Lithium-ion batteries are commonly used for energy storage systems, and temperature is one key impact factor on the cell performance and lifetime. In literature, the focus has been on the ambient temperature of the test condition, and there is little discussion about how the temperature swing during cycling affects the battery lifetime. 4. 9. Investigations of the corrosion resistances of magnetron sputtered multicomponent materials : A study on high entropy alloys, high entropy sublattice ceramics, and metallic glasses

    Författare :Aishwarya Srinath; Leif Nyholm; Ulf Jansson; Rebecka Lindblad; Bernard Normand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Corrosion resistance; high entropy alloys; magnetron sputtering; thin films; protective coatings;

    Sammanfattning : The corrosion resistances of sputter deposited AlCrNbYZrN, CrNbTiTaWC and TaNiSiC alloys were assessed in acidic and alkaline environments. Compositionally complex alloying strategies, and whether they produced coatings with superior corrosion resistances, were explored. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Alloy Design and Optimization of Mechanical Properties of High-Entropy Alloys

    Författare :Saad Ahmed Sheikh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ductility; topologically closed-pack TCP and geometrically closed-pack GCP phase; alloy design; mechanical properties; High-entropy alloys; refractory high-entropy alloys; valence electron concentration;

    Sammanfattning : High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are described as alloys containing multi-principal elements in equal or close to equal atomic percentage. HEAs are considered as potential structural materials for high-temperature applications; where alloy design and optimization of mechanical properties is extremely critical. LÄS MER
