  1. 1. Foodborne Virulence: Staphylococcus aureus Enterotoxins A and D

    Författare :Nina Wallin; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; environmental factors; phage-encoded virulence; in vivo; enterotoxin D; enterotoxin A; gene expression; Staphylococcus aureus; virulence;

    Sammanfattning : The development of new, minimally processed food products challenges traditional concepts of food safety. How pathogenic bacteria behave in these new matrices is not known. To fill this knowledge gap and enable the production of food that is safe for the consumer, more information on virulence expression of pathogens in food matrices is required. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Food-Related Gram-Positive Bacteria: Enterotoxin A Expression in Staphylococcus aureus and a New Regulation Mechanism in Lactococcus lactis

    Författare :Rong Cao; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lactococcus lactis; multiple inhibition kinetics; dehydrogenase; ATP; ADP; food factors; biopreservatives; staphylococcal food poisoning; SEA; prophage induction; enterotoxin A; Staphylococcus aureus;

    Sammanfattning : Staphylococcal enterotoxin A (SEA) is the most common enterotoxin found in outbreaks of staphylococcal food poisoning (SFP). Based on the amount of SEA produced, S. aureus strains were divided into two main groups, high- and low-SEA-producing strains. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Staphylococcal enterotoxin H - structure and function of a superantigen

    Författare :Helen Pettersson; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; TCR; staphylococcal enterotoxin H; MHC class II; superantigen; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to characterise the biological functions of the superantigen staphylococcal enterotoxin H (SEH). Superantigens are highly immunostimulatory proteins, which crosslink T cells and antigen presenting cells (APCs). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Staphylococcus aureus toxins - Influence on food safety and animal health

    Författare :Yusak Budi Susilo; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Staphylococcus aureus; toxins; food safety; enterotoxin A SEA ; prophage life cycle; GFP reporter strain; flow cytometry; enterotoxin D SED ; accessory gene regulator agr ; bovine mastitis; enterotoxin C SEC ; toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 TSST-1 ;

    Sammanfattning : Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is a notorious opportunistic foodborne pathogen and also a common cause of bovine mastitis. It is known to produce many different virulence factors, including various staphylococcal enterotoxins and toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (TSST-1). LÄS MER

  5. 5. Activation of murine cytotoxic cells with interelukin-2 and the bacterial superantigen staphylococcal entertoxin A

    Författare :Hans Belfrage; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; transplantation; serology; Immunology; cytokine; tolerance; LAK; NK; serologi; CTL; Staphylococcal enterotoxin A; SEA; Interleukin-2; murine; deletion; anergy;

    Sammanfattning : Natural killer (NK) cells and T lymphocytes are the major effector cells that can recognize and kill tumor cells. NK cells have a constitutive cytotoxic activity and kill a wide spectrum of tumor cells while T cells recognize specific tumor antigens and need to be activated through their TCR to differentiate into cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) killers or T helper cells.
