1. Global functional association network inference and crosstalk analysis for pathway annotation
Sammanfattning : Cell functions are steered by complex interactions of gene products, like forming a temporary or stable complex, altering gene expression or catalyzing a reaction. Mapping these interactions is the key in understanding biological processes and therefore is the focus of numerous experiments and studies. LÄS MER
2. On-line Sample Pretreatment Based on Membrane Enrichment, Mainly Using Supported Liquid Membranes, for Chromatographic Analysis
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this work was to construct practical analytical systems for the analysis of environmental and biological samples, using membrane-based techniques for sample pretreatment and chromatography for final analysis. Two types of membrane processes have been applied, with emphasis on automation. LÄS MER
3. Modulation of angiogenesis in adult rat brain - effect of aging, stress, environmental enrichment and antidepressant treatment
Sammanfattning : Neurogenesis and angiogenesis are stimulated by a number of antidepressant treatments, and cellular plasticity has emerged as a phenomenon with great relevance to the etiology and treatment of depression. In paper I we characterize how ECS-induced endothelial cell proliferation leads to vascularization of the adult rat hippocampus. LÄS MER
4. Non-porous membrane extractions in contemporary analysis
Sammanfattning : To meet the desirable characteristic for sample preparation in contemporary, i. e. automation, high enrichment, clean-up, selectivity and essential solvent free techniques, the use of non-porous membrane extraction techniques is addressed. LÄS MER
5. Ecology of zooplankton communities: climate, dormancy, and benthic-pelagic coupling
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes how influences, such as top down and bottom up forces, shape zooplankton communities in shallow lakes. I have also extended the traditional food-web theory by investigating the effects of climate on total biomass, taxonomic composition, and temporal properties of zooplankton communities. LÄS MER
