  1. 16. Local environmental governance: Assessing proactive initiatives in building energy efficiency

    Författare :Nora Smedby; Internationella miljöinstitutet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; local governance; policy evaluation; building energy efficiency; sustainability transitions; polycentric governance;

    Sammanfattning : Local governments are increasingly taking the initiative in environmental governance. But can they make any difference in addressing current environmental challenges, which are becoming more and more global in scope? This PhD thesis explores and analyses the outcomes of proactive initiatives in the field of building energy efficiency, and the governance approaches taken. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Emerging networks of power: Exploring sociotechnical pathways towards future electricity systems based on renewable energy technologies

    Författare :Kristina Hojcková; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; entrepreneurs; context; sociotechnical systems perspective; Technological Innovation System; Multilevel Perspective; electricity system; transition pathways; incumbents; renewable energy; energy users;

    Sammanfattning : In the effort to fight climate change, electricity systems around the world are undergoing a transition from fossil-fuelled to renewable energy-based production of electricity. The transition can, however, be attained in several radically different ways, ranging from global or continental super-grids, via local smart-grids, to self-sufficient off-grid communities and households of electricity prosumers. Sammanfattning : Different kinds of representations of the future are often asked for in order to motivate and inspire societal change. These envisioned futures can be based on political or behavioural change, or may visualize technical developmentwhich could help us solve complex societal problems. LÄS MER

  5. 20. The cost of phasing out coal: Identifying and overcoming socio-political barriers

    Författare :Lola Nacke; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Feasibility; Energy transitions; Coal phase-out; Socio-political feasibility;

    Sammanfattning : IPCC climate mitigation scenarios project rapid coal phase-out as an integral part of climate change mitigation. Despite the diffusion of cost competitive low-carbon alternatives to coal power, some argue that current decline is not in line with climate mitigation targets, and that rapid coal phase-out depicted in climate scenarios is not socio-politically feasible.
