21. Nutrient and energy sensing in skeletal muscle
Sammanfattning : Nutrient overload and physical inactivity often leads to the development of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Acute over-nutrition can induce insulin resistance, while physical exercise enhances skeletal muscle insulin sensitivity. Like every living cell, skeletal muscle senses nutrient and energy signals and to adjust metabolic flux. LÄS MER
22. Metabolic responses ofPseudomonas stutzeriandEscherichia colisubjected to starvation and surplus of carbon/energy substrates in bioreactors
Sammanfattning : Transient nitrite accumulation during anaerobicdenitrification is a widespread phenomenon for manydenitrifying bacteria includingPseudomonasstutzeri. Nitrate starvation caused the degradation ofthe second denitrifying enzyme nitrite reductase (NiR) inP.stutzeri. LÄS MER
23. Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy of III-Nitride Semiconductors
Sammanfattning : This Licentiate Thesis covers experimental and theoretical investigations of the bulk plasmon response to different compositions and strain states of group III-nitride materials. Investigated materials were grown using magnetron sputtering epitaxy and metal organic chemical vapour deposition and studied by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). 24. Swedish farm-scale biogas production-substrates and operating parameters
Sammanfattning : Biogas production from agricultural waste streams provides three value streams: production of fossil-free energy, reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and production of nutrient-rich digestate that can be used as fertiliser. However, farm-based biogas production is expanding rather slowly. LÄS MER
25. Fabrication and Characterization of Si-on-SiC Hybrid Substrates
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we are making a new approach to fabricate silicon on insulator (SOI). By replacing the buried silicon dioxide and the silicon handling wafer with silicon carbide through hydrophilic wafer bonding, we have achieved silicon on crystalline silicon carbide for the first time and silicon on polycrystalline silicon carbide substrates at 150 mm wafer size.
