  1. 11. Exploring cross-resource impacts of urban sustainability measures : an urban climate-land-energy-water nexus analysis

    Författare :Rebecka Ericsdotter Engström; Viktoria Martin; Georgia Destouni; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Mark I. Howells; Nazmiye Ozkan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; urban sustainability; CLEW nexus; water-energy nexus; nature-based solutions; SDG spillovers; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : In an increasingly urban world, cities' global resource uses grow. Two fundamental resources for making cities liveable are water and energy. These resources are also closely interlinked – systems that convert and deliver energy to cities require water, and urban water systems use energy. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Efficient energy use in different applications

    Författare :Lars Johansson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : There is a steadily growing awareness for environmental issues caused by the increased energy use, mainly in the industrial world. The use of fossil fuels has reached the point where it can not be looked at as an endless source, the resources are decreasing at a pace where alternative energy sources will be a necessity for this and future generations. 3. 13. Balancing Building Conservation with Energy Conservation - Towards differentiated energy renovation strategies in historic building stocks

    Författare :Petra Eriksson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Historic buildings; Historic building stocks; Heritage value; Energy efficiency; Energy renovation; Decision support processes;

    Sammanfattning : Balancing building conservation with energy conservation is challenging. The overall aim of this thesis is to bridge the perceived conflict of reaching climate and energy goals on the one hand and the goals of a sustainable management of historic building stocks on the other hand. 4. 14. Energy Feedback and Demand Response Strategies : Exploring Household Engagement and Response Using a Mixed Methods Approach

    Författare :Anders Nilsson; Maria Malmström; Cajsa Bartusch; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy feedback; demand response; household energy consumption; energy efficiency and conservation; demand flexibility; smart grids; smart homes; Industrial Ecology; Industriell ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Real-time energy feedback (EF) and demand response using dynamic pricing tariffs (DR) have been suggested as effective intervention strategies to meet the need for increased energy efficiency and demand flexibility in the residential sector. Although previous studies provide some empirical support for the effectiveness of EF and DR, evaluation approaches used in practical experiments and field trials commonly suffer from several methodological shortcomings, preventing deeper of knowledge on the potential and barriers for EF and DR to influence household energy consumption. 5. 15. Responsible resource management in hotels : attitudes, indicators, tools and strategies

    Författare :Paulina Bohdanowicz; Björn Palm; Ivo Martinac; Walter Jamieson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hotels; energy and water management; energy and water conservation; environmental awareness; environmental reporting; performance indicators; consumption modelling; benchmarking; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Hotels constitute one of the main, and still expanding, pillars of the tourism sector and are highly unique among other commercial buildings. Resource intensive and frequently inefficient systems and operational routines applied in the sector, result in considerable environmental impact and indicate an urgent need for more environmentally sound practices and products in the hotel industry.
