  1. 16. Thermochemical behavior of pretreated biomass

    Författare :Amit Kumar Biswas; Weihong Yang; Wlodzimierz Blasiak; Henrik Kusar; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomass; Pretreatment; therochemical conversion; pyrolysis; combustion; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Mankind has to provide a sustainable alternative to its energy related problems. Bioenergy is considered as one of the potential renewable energy resources and as a result bioenergy market is also expected to grow dramatically in future. However, logistic issues are of serious concern while considering biomass as an alternative to fossil fuel. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Evaluation of Modular Thermally Driven Heat Pump Systems

    Författare :Corey Blackman; Eva Thorin; Chris Bales; Christian Schweigler; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sorption heat pump; sorption module; thermochemical energy storage; artificial neural network; built environment; solar energy; gas-driven heat pump; solar cooling; heating and cooling; renewable energy; energy efficiency; experimental; simulation; analytical; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik; Reesbe företagsforskarskola;

    Sammanfattning : The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of primary energy use within the European Union, therefore reductions in the energy use intensity of this sector are critical in decreasing total energy usage. Given that the majority of energy used within the built environment is for space conditioning and domestic hot water preparation, prudence would suggest that decreasing primary energy used for these end purposes would have the biggest overall environmental impact. 3. 18. Building as active elements of energy systems

    Författare :Mehmet Börühan Bulut; Björn Karlsson; Fredrik Wallin; Peter Stigson; Jenny Palm; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; smart grid; smart home; cooperation; energy; buildings; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Buildings account for approximately 40% of the energy demand and 33% of the total greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union. Accordingly, there are several efforts that target energy efficiency in buildings both at the European and Swedish levels. The role of buildings in climate change mitigation, however, is not limited to energy savings. LÄS MER

  4. 19. PV water pumping systems for agricultural applications

    Författare :Pietro Elia Campana; Jinyue Yan; Hailong Li; Lawrence Kazmerski; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Grassland and farmland degradation is considered as one of the worst environmental and economic threats for China. The degradation process negatively affects food and water security, economy, society and climate changes. LÄS MER

  5. 20. From Passive to Active Electric Distribution Networks

    Författare :Javier Campillo; Erik Dahlquist; Wu Jianzhong; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Active distribution networks; smart grids; smart Meters; real-time pricing; demand-side management; electric vehicles; power systems; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Large penetration of distributed generation from variable renewable energy sources, increased consumption flexibility on the demand side and the electrification of transportation pose great challenges to existing and future electric distribution networks. This thesis studies the roles of several actors involved in electric distribution systems through electricity consumption data analysis and simulation models. LÄS MER
