  1. 6. Molecular Mechanisms in Vascular Endothelin B Receptor Up-Regulation

    Författare :Erik Uddman; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; reverse; in vitro pharmacology; organ culture; Endothelin receptors; up-regulation;

    Sammanfattning : Cardiovascular diseases are characterized by changes in morphology and function of the blood vessels. Different signalling molecules are involved in these changes. Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is one of the most potent signalling molecules found in man. Its actions are mediated by two receptors, the ETA and the ETB receptors. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Vascular Endothelin and Angiotensin Receptors Regulation in Inflammatory Arterial Disorders

    Författare :Ivan Dimitrijevic; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ischemic heart disease; resistance artery; giant cell arteritis; temporal artery; immunohistochemistry; AT2 receptor; AT1 receptor; Endothelin-1; ETA receptor; ETB receptor;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis is aimed to examine the hypothesis that the degree of vascular inflammation correlates with the expression of vascular endothelin and angiotensin receptors. The receptor changes were studied in subcutaneous resistance arteries in patients with different degrees of ischemic heart disease (IHD). LÄS MER

  3. 8. Unusual vascular responses in the umbilical artery, mediated by endothelin-like receptors

    Författare :Maria Laursen; Urogynekologi och reproduktionsfarmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reproduction; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; sexualitet; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; unusual vascular responses; endothelin-like receptors; human umbilical artery; reproduktion;

    Sammanfattning : In this present study the population of endothelin-like receptors in the human umbilical artery was examined in vitro in different parts of the umbilical cord. Immunohistochemistry revealed ETB receptors in the endothelium and an uneven distribution of ETA receptors in the smooth muscle of the arterial wall, when comparing different parts of the umbilical artery. 4. 9. Stroke, Sex and Vascular Receptor Changes in the Brain

    Författare :Hilda Ahnstedt; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; endothelin receptors; Cerebral ischemia; sex; estrogen; progesterone; sex differences; human cerebral arteries; endothelin-1; angiotensin II; middle cerebral artery occlusion; extra-cellular signal regulated kinase 1 and 2;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke is a severe cerebrovascular disease in which the neuronal tissue and vasculature of the brain undergo ischemia-evoked alterations. We have demonstrated an increased expression of cerebrovascular contractile receptors in the brain. This is hypothesized to mitigate cerebral blood flow and exacerbate tissue damage after stroke. 5. 10. On receptor changes in cerebral arteries after subarachnoid haemorrhage

    Författare :Jacob Hansen-Schwartz; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Pharmacological sciences; subarachnoid haemorrhage; reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction; in vitro pharmacology; organ culture; Endothelin receptors; 5-HT receptors;

    Sammanfattning : Overall the aim has been to characterise the in vitro upregulation of the 5-hydroxytryptamine 1B/1D (5-HT(1B/1D)) and endothelin (ET) receptors in the cerebral circulation as well as demonstrating phenotypic changes in a pathophysiological model mimicking subarachnoid haemorrhage. The first part describes receptor upregulation using organ culture of whole vessel segments from both rat and man. LÄS MER
