1. Endonuclease II - a GIY-YIG enzyme of bacteriophage T4
Sammanfattning : Endonuclease II (EndoII) of bacteriophage T4 is a GIY-YIG enzyme involved in host DNA breakdown during phage infection of E. coli. EndoII combines features of restriction endonucleases with those of homing endonucleases in that it breaks down DNA foreign to itself but recognizes a 16 bp long asymmetric and ambiguous sequence. 2. The Kluyveromyces lactis killer toxin is a transfer RNA endonuclease
Sammanfattning : Killer strains of the yeast Kluyveromyces lactis secrete a heterotrimeric protein toxin (zymocin) to inhibit the growth of sensitive yeasts. The cytotoxicity of zymocin resides in the γ subunit (γ-toxin), however the mechanism of cytotoxicity caused by γ-toxin was previously unknown. LÄS MER
3. In vivo studies of Escherichia coli : bacteriophage T4 endonuclease II-dependent restriction and initiation of plasmid R1 replication
Sammanfattning : .... LÄS MER
4. Homing Endonucleases and Horizontal Gene Transfer in Bacteria and Bacteriophages
Sammanfattning : Homing endonuclease genes (HEGs) are selfish genetic elements that mediate their own super-Mendelian inheritance. This is mediated by the homing endonuclease cleavage of a HEG- allele followed by recombination-repair with a HEG+ allele. The majority of the HEGs are encoded in intervening sequences (IVSs). LÄS MER
5. Group I Introns and Homing Endonucleases in T-even-like Bacteriophages
Sammanfattning : Homing endonucleases are rare-cutting enzymes that cleave DNA at a site near their own location, preferentially in alleles lacking the homing endonuclease gene (HEG). By cleaving HEG-less alleles the homing endonuclease can mediate the transfer of its own gene to the cleaved site via a process called homing, involving double strand break repair. LÄS MER
