  1. 11. Hitting the mark : studies of alterations in behaviour and fertility in ethinyl estradiol-exposed zebrafish and search related biomarkers

    Författare :Nasim Reyhanian Caspillo; Inger Porsch Hällström; Per-Erik Olsson; Håkan Olsén; Leif Norrgren; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Endocrine disrupting compounds; 17α-ethinylestradiol; fertility; anxiety; behaviour; zebrafish; biomarkers; stress; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we have analysed the effects of EE2 on non-reproductive behaviours and fertility. We have showed that two doses of EE2 in male adult short-term exposures evokes opposite behaviours in the novel tank test. LÄS MER

  2. 12. The juvenile three-spined stickleback : model organism for the study of estrogenic and androgenic endocrine disruption in laboratory and field

    Författare :Edda Hahlbeck; Bengt-Erik Bengtsson; Poul Bjerregaard; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; endocrine disruption; Terrestrial; freshwater and marine ecology; Terrestisk; limnisk och marin ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Industrial and domestic sewage effluents have been found to cause reproductive disorders in wild fish, often as a result of the interference of compounds in the effluents with the endocrine system. This thesis describes laboratory-based exposure experiments and a field survey that were conducted with juveniles of the three-spined stickleback, Gasterosteus aculeatus. LÄS MER

  3. 13. The wild male mink as a sentinel for endocrine-disrupting chemicals and reproductive toxicity

    Författare :Sara Persson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing evidence indicates that pollutants may affect the hormone system of humans and wildlife. These endocrine-disrupting chemicals are related to an increased risk of a variety of diseases and disorders, including adverse effects on the reproductive system. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Phthalates : On the issue of sources, human uptake, time trends and health effects

    Författare :Huan Shu; Carl-Gustaf Bornehag; Eewa Nånberg; Åke Svensson; Tina Kold Jensen; Karlstads universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Phthalates; Asthma; Pregnant; Exposure; Endocrine disrupting chemicals; SELMA; Public Health Science; Folkhälsovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Human health depends on a well-functioning endocrine system to regulate hormone release for normal bodily functions. Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) constitutes a group of chemicals, included in many commonly used products, (e.g. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Humans and wildlife are continuously exposed to mixtures of environmental pollutants. Mixture toxicity can be challenging to predict due to interactions between chemicals and thus whole-mixture approaches are crucial in toxicology. LÄS MER
