  1. 1. Monitoring with end-tidal oxygen

    Författare :Jan Bengtsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; paramagnetic; end-tidal oxygen; alveolar oxygen; oxygen consumption; alveolar ventilation; cardiac output; inotropic therapy; cardiac pacing; paediatric cardiac surgery;

  2. 2. Physiological effects of apnoeic oxygenation using high-flow nasal oxygen

    Författare :Ida-Maria Forsberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In anaesthetic practice, the inability to oxygenate and ventilate patients is a much-feared complication with risk for severe hypoxia-induced adverse outcomes. By administrating oxygen in the absence of spontaneous ventilation, apnoeic oxygenation may overcome these challenges by a prolonged time with sufficient oxygenation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Clinical and physiological consequences of preoxygenation using high-flow nasal oxygen in emergency anaesthesia

    Författare :Albin Sjöblom; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Airway management;

    Sammanfattning : Emergency anaesthesia is usually performed using a rapid sequence induction technique. The incidence of desaturation during rapid sequence induction is high, and preoxygenation prolongs the safe apnoea time. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Aspects of neonatal intensive care and anesthesia : Thermal balance and respiratory management

    Författare :Victoria Karlsson; Johan Ågren; Lena Hellström-Westas; Filip Fredén; Valeria Perez de Sa; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neonatal; anesthesia; kangaroo-mother-care; skin-to-skin care; carbon dioxide;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on four articles originating from three studies conducted in the neonatal intensive care unit and the children’s operating deparment at Uppsala University Hospital, Sweden.The overall aim was to obtain new knowledge about thermal balance and care environment in extremely preterm infants during skin-to-skin care (SSC), evaluate different methods of intraoperative monitoring of carbon dioxide (CO2), and to investigate how different levels of inhaled oxygen affect infants’ oxygenation during anesthesia and surgery. 5. 5. Functional residual capacity – development of new monitoring techniques for critically ill patients

    Författare :Cecilia Olegård; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; FRC functional residual capacity EELV end-expiratory lung volume volume dependent compliance VDC acute respiratory failure recruitment manouvre PEEP;

    Sammanfattning : Functional residual capacity (FRC) and end-expiratory lung volume (EELV) are important parameters for respiratory monitoring in critically ill adult and paediatric patients. Until now we have lacked clinically useful methods to measure these lung volumes. LÄS MER
