6. Integration of metallic source/drain contacts in MOSFET technology
Sammanfattning : The continuous and aggressive downscaling of conventional CMOS devices has been driving the vast growth of ICs over the last few decades. As the CMOS downscaling approaches the fundamental limits, novel device architectures such as metallic source/drain Schottky barrier MOSFET (SB-MOSFET) and SB-FinFET are probably needed to further push the ultimate downscaling. 7. Indicators for traffic safety assessment and prediction and their application in micro-simulation modelling : a study of urban and suburban intersections
Sammanfattning : In order to achieve sustainable long-term transport infrastructure development, there is a growing need for fast, reliable and effective methods to evaluate and predict the impact of traffic safety measures. Recognising this need, and the need for an active traffic safety approach, this thesis focuses on traffic safety assessment and prediction based on the use of safety indicators that measure the spatial and/or temporal proximity of safety critical events. 8. Fire history and tree population dynamics in Białowieża Forest, Poland and Belarus
Sammanfattning : Fire history and fire regime parameters in relation to the long-term tree population dynamics were studied with dendroecological methods across coniferous habitats of Białowieża Forest (E Poland and W Belarus), a semi-natural European temperate woodland ecosystem. In four different studies various aspects of fire dynamics were explored by using nearly 1500 tree ring samples of Pinus sylvestris and Picea abies. LÄS MER
9. Linking movement ecology with the management of mobile species : managing moose in Sweden
Sammanfattning : A central goal in conserving, or managing, biodiversity is to identify the spatial scale of management. Traditional approaches like protected areas aim to delineate boundaries, within which species are managed. These boundaries are set using, among others, species richness targets and political borders, but often fail to consider species movements. LÄS MER
10. Small biotopes: Landscape and management effects on pollinators
Sammanfattning : The intensification of agriculture during the second half of the twentieth century, has caused sever declines of farmland biodiversity, where loss of semi-natural habitats is one of the major drivers. To halt further loss of habitat and biodiversity, agri-environmental schemes (AES) are used to compensate farmers to use methods less harmful to the environment. LÄS MER
