1. Assessing environmental exposures. Air pollution in Scania, southern Sweden
Sammanfattning : Background: The environment where we humans live provides the fundamental requirements we need to survive – food to eat, water to drink, and air to breathe. The quality of these elements has a major impact on human health, as they can contain substances that are detrimental to health. These we call environmental pollutants. LÄS MER
2. Advances in quantitative emission tomography : development and analysis of methods for validation and correction
Sammanfattning : The nuclear medicine imaging techniques SPECT and PET are sensitive tools in mapping various physiological and biochemical processes in vivo. This work was devoted to investigations of methodological and physical properties of the SPECT technique as well as developing methods for validation and correction. LÄS MER
3. Evaluation of Regularized Image Reconstruction for Clinical Positron Emission Tomography
Sammanfattning : Positron emission tomography (PET) combined with computed tomography (CT) is a widely used noninvasive molecular imaging modality with a broad range of clinical applications in oncology, neurology, and cardiology. Producing imperative image quality and accurate quantification are important driving forces behind the technological advances within PET image reconstruction and system development. LÄS MER
4. Thermal physics of asteroids
Sammanfattning : The thermal infrared and microwave emission from asteroids have many applications. Fundamental physical properties can be investigated, which have implications for the geophysical evolution of the asteroids, and the early history of the solar system.A new thermophysical model of asteroids is presented. 5. First Principles Calculations of Electron Transport and Structural Damage by Intense Irradiation
Sammanfattning : First principle electronic structure theory is used to describe the effect of crystal binding on radiation detectors, electron transport properties, and structural damage induced by intense irradiation. A large database containing general electronic structure results to which data mining algorithms can be applied in the search for new functional materials, a case study is presented for scintillator detector materials.
