16. Wide-scope screening for contaminants of emerging concern in archived biota: Method development, suspect prioritisation, and non-target screening in a novel identification tool
Sammanfattning : Environmental monitoring of hazardous chemicals in wildlife conventionally uses target screening for selected contaminants, but relatively few contaminants are moni-tored and knowledge of potentially hazardous contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in wildlife is lacking. In this thesis, a non-target screening (NTS) method com-bined with temporal trend analysis was developed and applied as a prioritisation tool for identification of CECs in top predators, using high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). 17. Removal processes in sewage treatment plants : Sludge quality and treatment efficiency of structurally diverse organic compounds
Sammanfattning : Large and ever-increasing numbers of chemicals, including large quantities of a broad spectrum of organic compounds are used in modern society. More than 30 000 of the more than 100 000 chemical substances registered in the EU are estimated to be daily used, of which many will be discharged into the waste-streams handled by municipal sewage treatment plants (STPs). 18. Exploring the ecotoxicity of microparticle debris
Sammanfattning : The global distribution and anticipated increase of environmental microplastic (MP) pollution are concerning. However, while the impacts of macroplastic litter on wildlife are apparent, we know relatively little about the MP hazard potential. LÄS MER
19. Development of Methods for the Analysis of Polar Compounds in Environmental Matrices using LC/UV and LC/MS
Sammanfattning : In recent years, the awareness of environmentally hazardous compounds with polar and ionizable properties has intensified. Pharmaceuticals, the pesticide tebuconazole as well as the artificial sweetener sucralose are examples of such new, emerging, contaminants. LÄS MER
20. Assessing Soil Functions for Sustainable Remediation of Contaminated Sites
Sammanfattning : Soil contamination is a worldwide problem. Soil remediation is often carried out to reduce the risks posed by contaminants in the soil to human health and environment. Contaminant concentration is typically the only soil quality aspect maintained in remediation projects. LÄS MER
