  1. 11. Sub-lethal Effects of Anthropogenic Contaminants on Aquatic Invertebrates

    Författare :Warren Kunce; Frank Johansson; Jan Örberg; Sarah Josefsson; Jes Rasmussen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :ecotoxicology; sub-lethal; behavior; biomarkers; thermal tolerance; pesticides; pyrethroids; neonicotinoids; pharmaceuticals; antihistamines; microplastics; mixtures; freshwater; invertebrates; chironomids; damselflies; snails; Biology with specialization in Animal Conservation; Biologi med inriktning mot zoologisk bevarandebiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Anthropogenic contaminants are considered to play a substantial role in the decline of freshwater invertebrate diversity. Sub-lethal effects of many of these contaminants on behaviour and life-history traits of aquatic invertebrates may contribute to their decline. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Accumulation and Composition of Gully Pot Sediments under Varying Anthropogenic Activities

    Författare :Haoyu Wei; Lian Lundy; Maria Viklander; David Butler; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Catch basin; Stormwater; Sediment; Urban runoff; Xenobiotics; Gully pot maintenance; Emerging pollutant; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Gully pots (GPs) are an integral urban drainage component, contributing to conveying runoff from urban surfaces and reducing the load of solids and associated contaminants entering downstream piped systems and receiving waters. Over time, the silting-up of GPs impairs their hydraulic performance, increasing the risk of GP blockage-induced flood events and reducing solids retention performance. LÄS MER

  3. 13. In silico methods to prioritize chemicals with high exposure potential

    Författare :Efstathios Reppas Chrysovitsinos; Matthew MacLeod; Anna Sobek; Michael Matthies; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; free energy relationship; solvation parameters; polymers; materials; partitioning; octanol; Arctic contaminants; AMAP; POPs; Stockholm Convention; vPvB; REACH; OECD; QSAR; planetary boundaries; persistence; bioaccumulation; long-range transport; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Chemicals offer a wide range of desired functions and are used in a variety of consumer goods and industrial sectors. The number of individual synthetic organic chemicals produced and the total global chemical production volume are increasing. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Occurrence and removal of organic micropollutants in drinking water : Analytical approaches for wide-scope screening of contaminants of emerging concern

    Författare :Rikard Tröger; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : With the rapidly expanding global population, demand for clean drinking water is increasing. However, the widespread use of synthetic chemicals makes it challenging to produce safe and clean drinking water. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Legacy persistent organic pollutants and chemicals of emerging concern in Sweden : from indoor environments to remote areas

    Författare :Seth Newton; Cynthia de Wit; Ulla Sellström; Per Larsson; Annika Jahnke; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; persistent organic pollutants; atmospheric deposition; arctic; flame retardant; POP; long range transport; miljökemi; Environmental Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Bulk atmospheric deposition samples were taken every two months for a year in 2009-2010 at two sites in northern Sweden and analyzed for a suite of legacy and emerging persistent organic chemicals including legacy organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs)  and novel flame retardants (NFRs).  To further investigate the urban occurrence and contribution to remote contamination of flame retardants, indoor air, ventilation system air, and dust were sampled in several microenvironments in Stockholm during the winter of 2012 for analysis of PBDEs, isomer-specific hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD), and NFRs.
