21. Risk and Vulnerability Analysis of Complex Systems: a basis for proactive emergency management
Sammanfattning : The present thesis concerns methods and knowledge that are useful when analysing the risks and vulnerabilities of complex systems in a societal emergency management context. Operational definitions of vulnerability and emergency response capabilities are suggested and two methods for analysing the vulnerability of critical infrastructure networks, based on the suggested definition, are presented. 23. The epidemiology of cardiac arrest - In-hospital risk assessment, treatment and outcome
Sammanfattning : AIM: To describe and analyse sudden cardiac arrest, both in hospital and out of hospital, from an epidemiological perspective, by early prediction, by comparing changes over time in relation to aetiology, characteristics, treatment, survival or mortality and by identifying factors associated with outcome. METHODS: This thesis is based on four observational studies, including patient information from the Swedish Registry for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, in and out of hospital, and from a local registry on medical emergency team assessment at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim was to describe the first responders´ (FRs) experiences ofarriving early at emergency situations in rural areas in Sweden and the characteristicfeatures of the assignments they encounter. The four studies aimed to: describe critical incidents in which ambulance nurses experience worry in their professional life and the actions they take in order to prevent and cope with it (I), explore and describe experiences of the First Incident Person (FIP) assignment within an Fire Department (FD) (II), describe experiences of the While Waiting for the Ambulance (WWFA) assignment, as experienced by home healthcare nurses (III) and map out and describe WWFA assignments focusing on frequency, event time,CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and survival >30 days after performed CPR (IV).
