1. Food Cultures in Sápmi : An interdisciplinary approach to the study of the heterogeneous cultural landscape of northern Fennoscandia AD 600–1900
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to highlight the heterogeneous cultural landscape in Sápmi through the study of food. By studying food and the choices of specific foodstuffs in Sápmi AD 600–1900, a greater understanding can be gained on the history of this area during the period. LÄS MER
2. Incorporation and preservation of geochemical fingerprints in peat archives
Sammanfattning : The present status of the environment, including environmental problems such as heavy metal accumulation in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, is in part the consequence of long-term changes. Cores from peatlands and other natural archives provide us with the potential to study aspects of the atmospheric cycling of elements, such as metal pollutants, on timescales much longer than the decade or two available to us with atmospheric deposition monitoring programs. 3. Controlling the mobility of organic carbon (OC) ant its impact on metal transport from incineration residues
Sammanfattning : Incineration residues contain both inorganic and organic material. The organic material may affect the mobility of pollutants in e.g. landfills or geotechnical constructions. LÄS MER
4. Fine and Ultrafine Particles from Combustion Sources - Investigations with In-situ Techniques
Sammanfattning : Fine airborne particles are associated with adverse health effects in the human population. The aim of this research was to develop and evaluate methods for in-situ characterisation of fine and ultrafine particles and to determine their deposition in the human airways. LÄS MER
5. Dislocations in silicon
Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is theoretical studies of the electrical and structural properties in the elemental semiconductor silicon. Because of the numerous and powerful applications of semiconductors, e.g., rectifiers, transistors, solar cells and lasers, they have been the focus of huge amounts of research. LÄS MER
