1. Taming of Oxygen in the Electron Microscope : Effects of High Energy Electron Irradiation on O2 and Oxides
Sammanfattning : Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is an atomic resolution technique that allows for in depth analysis of the properties of different materials by passing high energy electrons through a thin sample and detecting how they are affected. However, due to the strong interaction between electrons and matter, the probability of the sample remaining unperturbed by the electron irradiation is small. LÄS MER
2. Characterization of Micro-Structures in Materials
Sammanfattning : On developing the next generation sustainable soft materials, it is often crucial to understand and control their properties and function. Whereas a characterization of three-dimensional data is desirable in corresponding studies, often two-dimensional data are less time consuming to obtain. LÄS MER
3. Fine Scale Microstructures of Josephson Junctions in YBa2Cu3O7-δ Thin Film Structures
Sammanfattning : This work concerns the microstructure of YBa2Cu3O7-.delta. (YBCO) and other related thin films in multilayer structures, studied by mainly transmission electron microscopy (TEM). LÄS MER
4. Theoretical Studies of Electron Transport in Quantum Dot Structures
Sammanfattning : We calculate the phase property of the reflection coefficient in two-terminal structures using a lattice tight-binding model. It is seen that, provided that there exist two coherent reflection paths, the reflection probability can be zero for certain electron energies. LÄS MER
5. Coherent Far-Infrared Mode Pumping in Ballistic Electron Channels
Sammanfattning : The influence of a high frequency electromagnetic field on transport properties of ballistic electron channels is investigated theoretically. We are primarily concerned with submicron-width channels formed by split-gate depletion of a two-dimensional electron gas at a GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure interface. LÄS MER
