  1. 1. Heterogeneous electron transfer studies with ligninolytic redox enzymes and living bacteria. Applications in biosensors and biofuel cells

    Författare :Vasile Coman; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cellobiose dehydrogenase; direct electron transfer; mediated electron transfer; self-assembled monolayer; flow injection analysis; amperometric biosensor; E. coli; succinate:quinone reductase; biofuel cell; B. subtilis; whole-cell biosensor;

    Sammanfattning : The catalytic properties and the inter-domain electron transfer of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) from the ascomycete fungus Myriococcum thermophilum adsorbed on graphite and thiol (SAM) modified gold electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, flow injection amperometry and UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry. The fabrication and characterisation of a noncompartmentalised, mediator and cofactor free glucose–oxygen biofuel cell well-operating in glucose-containing buffers and human blood serum was performed. 2. 2. Microbial Electrochemical System: extracellular electron transfer from photosynthesis and respiration to electrode

    Författare :Kamrul Hasan; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biological photovoltaics; electron transfer; electrode; Rhodobacter capslatus; thylakoid membranes; cyanobacteria; algae; photosynthesis; light; photocurrent; electrochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The electrochemical communication between microorganisms and electrodes has substantial implications both for basic understanding of biological electron transfer as well as in diverse applications, such as, microbial electrochemical system (MES), microbial biosensors and in production of valuable chemicals. In these systems the extracellular electron transfer (EET) from microbial metabolism to electrodes is restricted due to the insulated cellular exterior made of lipid structures. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies of Electrocatalytic Reactions of NADH at Mediator Modified Electrodes and of H2O2 at Peroxidase Modified Electrodes

    Författare :Florentina Munteanu; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrochemistry; Elektrokemi; kinetic studies; silica gel; titanium phoshate; zirconium phosphate; NADH; redox mediator; phenolic compounds; hydrogen peroxide; electron transfer; graphite and carbon paste electrodes; peroxidase; biosensor;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses: (1) studies of direct and mediated electron transfer and kinetics of peroxidases on electrodes and the development of amperometric peroxidase-based biosenors, (2) electrochemical and kinetic studies of NADH oxidation at mediator modified electrodes. The direct and mediated electron transfer of horseradish and tobacco peroxidase were investigated on graphite electrodes by using wall-jet electrode methodology. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Aerobic Oxidative N-Heterocyclic Carbene Catalysis via Multistep Electron Transfer - Method Development and Applications

    Författare :Anton Axelsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; N-heterocyclic carbene; asymmetric synthesis; esterification; glycerol; electron transfer mediator; green chemistry; telescoped reaction; Organocatalysis; aerobic oxidation; dihydropyranone;

    Sammanfattning : Oxidation reactions are ubiquitous in synthetic chemistry, but generally suffer from formation of large amounts of potentially toxic byproducts. Aerial oxygen represents an ideal oxidant since it is inexpensive, non-toxic and only forms water as a byproduct. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Facilitating electron transfer in bioelectrocatalytic systems

    Författare :Alina Sekretaryova; Mats Eriksson; Mikhail Vagin; Anthony Turner; Evgeny Katz; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Bioelectrocatalytic systems are based on biological entities, such as enzymes, whole cells, parts of cells or tissues, which catalyse electrochemical processes that involve the interaction between chemical change and electrical energy. In all cases, biocatalysis is implemented by enzymes, isolated or residing inside cells or part of cells. LÄS MER
