    Författare :Elias Odelstad; Anders Eriksson; Andrew Coates; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Rosetta; comet; 67P; RPC-LAP; RPC-MIP; RPC-ICA; RPC-MAG; ROSINA-COPS; Langmuir probe; spacecraft potential; plasma; Churyumov-Gerasimenko; ion composition analyzer; diamagnetic cavity; ion velocity; electron temperature; ion-neutral drag; collisional coupling; wake effects; filamentation; electron cooling; plasma waves; hybrid waves; Bernstein waves; minimum variance; polarization; wavelet; density fluctuations; magnetic field oscillations; drift-cyclotron instability; asymmetric plasma and magnetic field enhancements; Fysik med inriktning mot rymd- och plasmafysik; Physics with specialization in Space and Plasma Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is the evolution and dynamics of the plasma environment of a moderately active comet before, during and after its closest approach to the Sun. For over 2 years in 2014-2016, the European Space Agency’s Rosetta spacecraft followed the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko at distances typically between a few tens and a few hundred kilometers from the nucleus, the longest and closest inspection of a comet ever made. 2. 7. Quantum electronic transport in low-dimensional semiconductors

    Författare :Heiner Linke; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum transport; two-dimensional electron gas; contact-free characterisation; ballistic transport; mesoscopic; electron billiard; quantum dot; electron-electron interaction; non-linear; phase breaking; Halvledarfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Linke; non-symmetric conductio; Semiconductory physics; low-dimensional structures;

    Sammanfattning : Electronic transport is studied at low temperatures in two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) and in mesoscopic semiconductor microstructures. The method of microwave-detection of the Shubnikov-de Haas effect for the contact-free characterisation of transport properties of 2DEGs is explored using both magnetic-field modulation and light-induced carrier modulation.     Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; van der Waals molecules; physisorption; van der Waals interactions; density-functional theory; exchange-correlation energy; scanning-force microscopy; adhesion;

    Sammanfattning : Methods using local or semi local approximations (LDA, GGA etc.) for the exchange-correlation energy in the density-functional theory (DFT) do not include van der Waals interactions. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Surface Vibrational and Electron Spectroscopy - Experiments and first-principle calculations

    Författare :Martin Andersson; Kemisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gränsskikt; anharmonicity; Ytkemi; Surface and boundary layery chemistry; adsorbates; metal surface; density functional theory; first-principle calculations; electron spectroscopy; reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy; vibrational spectroscpy;

    Sammanfattning : This work deals with interpretation of experimental surface spectroscopic data with the aid of first-principle calculations. Surface infrared reflection-absorption spectra as well as spectra from the electron spectroscopic methods photoemission and X-ray absorption are considered. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Challenges in Enzyme Catalysis - Photosystem II and Orotidine Decarboxylase : A Density Functional Theory Treatment

    Författare :Marcus Lundberg; Margareta Blomberg; Per Siegbahn; Jeremy Harvey; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photosystem II; oxyl radical; manganese systems; orotidine decarboxylase; reaction mechanism; density functional theory; Quantum chemistry; Kvantkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Possibly the most fascinating biochemical mechanism remaining to be solved is the formation of oxygen from water in photosystem II. This is a critical part of the photosynthetic reaction that makes solar energy accessible to living organisms. LÄS MER
