  1. 1. New Electrochemical Tools to Study Exocytosis

    Författare :Joakim Wigström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amperometry; QCM-D; micro electrode array; large dense core vesicles; chromaffin cells; PC-12 cells; microelectrode; exocytosis; electrochemical cytometry; electrochemical imaging; acetylcholine; endocytosis; nanoparticles; enzyme biosensor; microfabrication;

    Sammanfattning : The work described in this thesis has the focus on the development of new analytical tools to study processes related to cellular secretion (exocytosis) in cell models. Four novel techniques were developed, allowing new ways to study processes related to exocytosis, and gain previously unattainable knowledge. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Electrochemical (bio-)sensors operating in human physiological fluids

    Författare :Carolin Psotta; Sergey Shleev; Magnus Falk; Evgeny Katz; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :biosensor; bacteria; enzyme; sensor; physiological fluid;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on developing electrochemical (bio-)sensors specifically designed to detect biomolecules and bacteria in human physiological fluids. A more comprehensive understanding of their performance can be obtained by exposing the sensors to real human physiological fluids. LÄS MER

  3. 3. PROBING SECRETORY VESICLES AND LIPOSOME MODEL SYSTEMS USING NANOSCALE ELECTROCHEMISTRY AND MASS SPECTROMETRY

    Författare :Jelena Lovric; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neuroendocrine cells; NanoSIMS; liposomes; neurotransmitters; large dense core vesicles; Exocytosis; ToF-SIMS; vesicle electrochemical cytometry; electrochemistry; amperometry;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular communication is based on the process of exocytosis, regulated release of chemical messengers into the extracellular space. These messengers, neurotransmitters, are packed into vesicles that during exocytosis fuse with the plasma membrane and release their content. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Quantitative chemical imaging to study content release from single nanovesicles

    Författare :Tho D. K. Nguyen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Exocytosis; Vesicle; Mass spectrometry imaging; Electron microscopy; Fluorescence microscopy; Electrochemical analysis; NanoSIMS;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular communication is vital for the survival of multicellular organisms. This process often relies on a highly regulated mechanism called exocytosis, which involves the release of chemical signals. During exocytosis, vesicles can fully or partially release their contents. 5. 5. Electrochemical and microscopic analysis of chemical signalling in biological systems

    Författare :Anna Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular communication is a prerequisite in multicellular organisms in order to survive. Many times, this communication occurs through the highly controlled and regulated release of chemical signals through a process known as exocytosis. LÄS MER
