  1. 1. Catching broken hearts - Electrocardiography and in-hospital outcome in Takotsubo syndrome versus ST elevation myocardial infarction

    Författare :Rickard Zeijlon; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Takotsubo syndrome; ST elevation myocardial infarction; electrocardiography; arrhythmia; mortality; pathophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Takotsubo syndrome (TS) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI) have similar symptoms, non-invasive test results and complications. Whereas AMI is caused by cardiac ischemia, the pathophysiology of TS is incompletely understood. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Early Risk Stratification, Treatment and Outcome in ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction

    Författare :Erik Björklund; Bertil Lindahl; Lars Wallentin; Ulf Näslund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Acute myocardial infarction; Thrombolysis; Troponin; Electrocardiography; Natriuretic peptide; Prognosis; Prehospital thrombolysis; Treatment delay; Mortality; Registry; Clinical trial; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : We evaluated, in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with thrombolytics, admission Troponin T (tnT), ST-segment resolution and admission N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) for early risk stratification as well as time delays and outcome in real life patients according to prehospital or in-hospital thrombolytic treatment. Also, baseline characteristics, treatments and outcome in patients enrolled in the ASSENT-2 trial in Sweden and in patients not enrolled were evaluated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Prognostic Factors in First-Episode Schizophrenia : Five-year Outcome of Symptoms, Function and Obesity

    Författare :Robert Bodén; Johan Sundström; Leif Lindström; Lena Flyckt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; First-episode; psychosis; schizophrenia; community mental health services; remission; functional outcome; biochemistry; obesity; weight-gain; prediction; autonomic balance; electrocardiography; Psychiatry; Psykiatri; Psychiatry; Psykiatri;

    Sammanfattning : Our knowledge of prognostic factors and optimal treatment organisation in schizophrenia is incomplete. The disparity of outcome measures used has been a major obstacle for research. Increasing evidence has shown that schizophrenia is associated with increased cardiovascular mortality, development of obesity and autonomic nervous system imbalance. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Electrical remodeling in arial fibrillation - assessment using surface electrocardiograms, prognostic implications and potential reversal

    Författare :Andreas Bollmann; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atrial fibrillation; electrocardiography; stroke; biomarkers;

    Sammanfattning : The fibrillatory rate of the surface ECG during atrial fibrillation (AF) has been suggested for quantification of the individual atrial remodeling, to monitor interventions and to predict the response to different therapies. In this dissertation, the relation between fibrillatory rate of the surface ECG and (1) clinical and echocardiographic variables, (2) the outcome of cardioversion, (3) circulating markers of inflammation and hemostasis, (4) the risk of left atrial thrombus formation, (5) the risk of stroke, and (6) the effects of candesartan on the fibrillatory rate were investigated in human persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). 5. 5. Exploration of Supraventricular Conduction with respect to Atrial Fibrillation. Methodological Aspects on Selected Techniques

    Författare :Jonas Carlson; Kardiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Signal processing; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Correlation Function Analysis; Transformation; Modeling; P wave Morphology; Signal; Conduction; Human; Atrial Fibrillation; Signalbehandling; Electrocardiography;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia that demands medical attention. Computer-based detailed analysis of cardiac electrical signals from healthy subjects and patients with a history of atrial fibrillation has become an important tool in the further clarification of this disease.
