21. Equilibrium and Nonequilibrium Properties of Nonionic Surfactant Membranes
Sammanfattning : An extensive investigation of the multilamellar vesicles (La*), lamellar (La), and multiply connected sponge (L3) phase formed in surfactant systems is presented in this thesis. These membrane structures were studied using surfactant systems containing poly(oxyethylene) alkyl ethers, n-CnH2n+1(OCH2CH2) mOH, commonly abbreviated as CnEm. LÄS MER
22. Thin Layers in Elastic Wave Propagation -Effective Modelling and Diffraction
Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, the interest is focussed on the problem of effective modelling of thin interface layers for applications in elastic wave scattering. The layers are considered to be thin compared with wavelengths involved and it is shown that when all effects to lowest order in the layer thickness are included, we get boundary conditions (BCs) which have a number of nice features, including the one of implying that no scattering occurs when the layer has material parameters identical to the ones in the matrix medium. 23. Elastic Wave Scattering by Closed Cracks and Thin Flaws - Multiple Scattering and Resonances
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we study elastic wave scattering by thin flaws and closed cracks, which finds applications in ultrasonic testing and evaluation of materials. First we consider the scattering of an SH-wave by a thin finite elastic layer between two elastic half-spaces. LÄS MER
24. Characterization of interfaces by elastic light scattering and profilometry
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the characterization of interfaces by elastic light scattering and profilometry. The sensitivity of scattering measurements to surface topography were used in two major ways. It was shown that surface reactions in a liquid-solid interface can be monitored in situ in terms of changes in surface roughness. LÄS MER
25. Compton Scattering from the Deuteron at Low Energies
Sammanfattning : A series of three Compton scattering experiments on deuterium have been performed at the high-resolution tagged-photon facility MAX-lab located in Lund, Sweden. The 50 < Eg < 70 MeV tagged photons were scattered from a liquid deuterium target and detected simultaneously in three (10"x10") NaI detectors. LÄS MER
