    Författare :Laura M. Buntin; Thomas Kalscheuer; Gunilla Kreiss; Zhengyong Ren; Klaus Spitzer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied geophysics; Electromagnetic theory; Numerical Modelling; Geo-Electromagnetics; Magnetotellurics; Controlled-source electromagnetics; Goal-oriented adaptive mesh refinement; Perfectly-matched layers; Iterative solution methods; Preconditioning; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Forward modelling of electromagnetic induction data simulates the electric and magnetic fields within a computational domain for a given distribution of electromagnetic material properties and a given source of the electromagnetic field. The quantities of interest are the fields at receiver locations at the Earth's surface. LÄS MER

    Författare :Jing Gong; Jan Nordström; Gunilla Efraimsson; Mark H. Carpenter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hybrid methods; finite difference methods; finite volume methods; coupling procedure; stability; efficiency; artificial dissipation; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap; Beräkningsvetenskap med inriktning mot numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, stable and efficient hybrid methods which combine high order finite difference methods and unstructured finite volume methods for time-dependent initial boundary value problems have been developed. The hybrid methods make it possible to combine the efficiency of the finite difference method and the flexibility of the finite volume method. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Extended Computational Module for Tractive Effort at Rolling and Spinning Point Contacts

    Författare :Mikael Törmänen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; spin; thermal effects; Hertzian contact; continuously variable transmission; rolling resistance; speed pole; traction drive; multi-body system; efficient numerical procedure;

    Sammanfattning : One category of mechanical systems that contains power-transferring point contacts is traction drive variators. These variators can be used in different concepts for Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVTs) and in vehicle applications, in order to achieve optimum engine operating conditions leading to improved driveability, reduced fuel consumption and an increase in overall vehicle performance. 4. 4. Summation-by-Parts Operators for High Order Finite Difference Methods

    Författare :Ken Mattsson; Nordström Jan; Gunilla Kreiss; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dinite difference methods; accuracy; stability; dissipation; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys; Scientific Computing; Beräkningsvetenskap; Numerical Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : High order accurate finite difference methods for hyperbolic and parabolic initial boundary value problems (IBVPs) are considered. Particular focus is on time dependent wave propagating problems in complex domains. Typical applications are acoustic and electromagnetic wave propagation and fluid dynamics. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Numerical modeling of train-induced ground vibrations

    Författare :Jens Malmborg; Byggnadsmekanik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : The population is growing, and an increasing proportion of the population live in urban areas. As a consequence, human exposure to noise and vibrations is increasing. Larger and denser cities lead to a higher amount of traffic close to where people work and live. LÄS MER
