  1. 1. Aspects of central integrative and efferent mechanisms in cardiovascular reflex control

    Författare :Göran Wennergren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Afferent Pathways; physiology; Animals; Arteries; physiology; Blood Circulation; Blood Pressure; Brain; physiology; Cats; Chemoreceptor Cells; physiology; Coronary Circulation; Coronary Vessels; physiology; Efferent Pathways; physiology; Electric Stimulation; Female; Heart; innervation; physiology; Heart Rate; Hypothalamus; physiology; Male; Pressoreceptors; physiology; Reflex; Sympathetic Nervous System; physiology; Ventricular Function;

  2. 2. Chemical circuitry in the visual system of the fruitfly, Drosophila melanogaster

    Författare :Agata Kolodziejczyk; Dick Nässel; Axel Borst; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optic lobe; lamina; neurotransmitters; neuropeptides; tangential neurons; Animal physiology; Zoofysiologi; funktionell zoomorfologi; Functional Zoomorphology;

    Sammanfattning : Signal processing in the visual system is mediated by classic neurotransmission and neuropeptidergic modulatory pathways. In Dipteran insects, especially in the fruitfly Drosophila melanogaster, the morphology of the visual system is very well described. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The functional role of the lateral olivocochlear system and mechanisms underlying sound condtioning

    Författare :Xianzhi Niu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cochlea; dopamine; tyrosine hydroxylase; sound conditioning; apoptosis; acoustic trauma; lateral olivocochlear nucleus; D1 receptor; efferents;

    Sammanfattning : Sound conditioning is a process induced by a low-level, non-damaging acoustic stimulus that provides protection against subsequent detrimental forms of acoustic trauma. Many hypotheses have been advanced to explain the effect of sound conditioning, but the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon are still not yet known. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Hereditary susceptibility to inner ear stress agents studied in heterozygotes of the German waltzing guinea pig

    Författare :Åsa Skjönsberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :age-dependent hearing loss; cisplatin; DPOAE; efferent system; gender; gentamicin; noise trauma; ototoxic drugs; protection;

    Sammanfattning : The German waltzing guinea pig is a strain of animals expressing deafness and severe balance disorders already at birth. The mutation arose spontaneously in a breeding facility in Germany and as the affected animals show a characteristic waltzing behavior, the strain is named the German waltzing guinea pig. LÄS MER

  5. 5. New functional and anatomical aspects of the organisation of human peripheral nerve

    Författare :Rolf Ekedahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Somatosensory system; Peripheral nerve organisation; somatotopy; modalitysegregation; cutaneous mechanoreceptors; Human.Huddinge 1996;

    Sammanfattning : The functional topography of peripheral nerves has been studied by various indirect electrophysiological and histological methods. Even though some studies have suggested the presence of a somatotopical arrangement of nerve fibres, the prevailing view is that a random distribution of nerve fibres develops in the nerve due to the repeated rearrangement of nerve fascicles along their centripetal course.
