  1. 1. Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors in the environment : Effects of citalopram on fish behaviour

    Författare :Martin Kellner; Håkan Olsén; Inger Porsch-Hällström; Magnus Breitholtz; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Citalopram; SSRI; stickleback; Baltic; behaviour; fish; feeding; anxiety; boldness; serotonin; development; Storspigg; serotonin; östersjön; SSRI; läkemedel; miljö; citalopram; ätbeteende; beteende; utveckling; Environmental Studies; Miljövetenskapliga studier; Östersjö- och Östeuropaforskning; Baltic and East European studies;

    Sammanfattning : Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are a class of anxiolytic and anti-depressant drugs. SSRIs act on the evolutionarily ancient serotonergic system which is virtually identical throughout the vertebrate phylum. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The Effects of SSRI Treatment on Human Placenta and Embryo

    Författare :Helena Kaihola; Helena Åkerud; Inger Sundström-Poromaa; Jocelien Olivier; Olav Spigset; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antenatal depression; embryo; embryo development; fluoxetine; gene expression; NGF; placenta; protein expression; Raf-1; ROCK; signaling pathways; SSRI; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Sammanfattning : During pregnancy, 4 - 7% of women suffer from major depressive disorder. When antidepressive treatment is needed, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are the most commonly used. Although severe complications from SSRI treatment are rare, association with a number of adverse pregnancy and fetal outcomes has been found. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Biological Aspects of Peripartum Depression

    Författare :Åsa Edvinsson; Inger Sundström Poromaa; Helena Åkerud; Jocelien Olivier; Charlotte Hellgren; Isis Amer-Wåhlin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Peripartum depression; antenatal depression; postpartum depression; antidepressant treatment; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor; SSRI; pregnancy; postpartum; attentional bias; Emotional Stroop Task; inflammatory markers; proximity extension assay; placenta; gene expression; TaqMan low-density array; protein expression; immunohistochemistry; HTR1A; NPY2R;

    Sammanfattning : Peripartum depression affects around 12% of women in pregnancy and postpartum, and about 2–3% of European pregnant women use antidepressants, mostly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). An increased risk of poor pregnancy outcomes has been described in women with antenatal depression and SSRI treatment during pregnancy. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Imaging serotonin and dopamine transporters in social anxiety disorder : Characterization, treatment and expectancy effects

    Författare :Olof Hjorth; Tomas Furmark; Andreas Frick; Eduard Maron; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; PET; serotonin; dopamine; placebo; SSRI; CBT; MRI; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychiatry; Psykiatri; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The monoamines serotonin and dopamine are likely to be involved in the pathophysiology of social anxiety and other affective disorders, but their respective contributions and putative interactions in the causes and cures of these disorders are still not well understood. It is also largely unknown if and how expectations of treatment success affect brain neurochemistry and neural activations, and if expectations interact with antidepressants like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). 5. 5. On the Effects of Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors in Major Depression

    Författare :Fredrik Hieronymus; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; antidepressants; antidepressive agents; depression; major depressive disorder; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor; SNRI; SSRI;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the antidepressant effects of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and how these are reflected by the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS). To this end, we have assembled a large data set of placebo-controlled SSRI trials in major depression, and used this for a series of post-hoc patient-level analyses. LÄS MER
