Sammanfattning : Based on four published articles on Swedish upper secondary school pupils’ use of online resources during essay writing in Spanish L3, this thesis in educational work and Romance languages focuses, from a language education perspective, on the use of machine translation. Two of the articles observe pupils’ use of online resources in general, and of Google Translate in particular, revealing a complex weave of strategies where Swedish, Spanish, and English are used to search, change and control word sequences, simultaneously including lexical, morphological, and syntactic aspects of the languages. Sammanfattning : This thesis explores how Participatory Design (PD) and Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) can be combined and used as a theoretical framework and methodology in a professional development activity for teachers. A shift in the way we view teachers, from implementors to designers who actively construct, invent, and develop the practice of schooling also calls for changes in teacher education and professional development activities. Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to contribute with knowledge about the negotiations behind formulating part four of the Swedish curriculum Lgr 11, with a focus on pedagogical codes and power relations between school and school-age educare (SAE), as well as the negotiations that are expressed when the curriculum text is interpreted and realised in SAE practice.To reach this aim, parts of Bernstein’s code theory is used.
