1. Driving it home! Exploring and enhancing the adoption of eco-driving
Sammanfattning : One strategy to reduce the environmental impact of the transport sector is to increase the adoption of eco-driving among both professional and private drivers. Attempts to introduce eco-driving have though had varying success, and many questions remain to be answered. LÄS MER
2. On optimal mission planning for conventional and electric heavy duty vehicles
Sammanfattning : Ever-growing energy consumption and CO2 emissions due to the increase in road transport are major challenges that attract international attention, especially policy makers, logistic service providers and customers considering environmental, ecological and economic issues. Other negative side-effects caused by the growth of the road transport are the extensive economic and social costs because of traffic congestion. LÄS MER
3. Optimal Control of Electric Bus Lines
Sammanfattning : Bus lines are inherently unstable systems, where any delay tends to be further amplified by the accrued passenger loads encountered at stops downstream. This self-reinforcing mechanism, when combined with the multiple sources of disturbances of an urban environment, can lead to the problem of bus bunching. LÄS MER
4. Fuel-efficient and safe heavy-duty vehicle platooning through look-ahead control
Sammanfattning : The operation of groups of heavy-duty vehicles at small inter-vehicular distances, known as platoons, lowers the overall aerodynamic drag and, therefore, reduces fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Experimental tests conducted on a flat road and without traffic have shown that platooning has the potential to reduce the fuel consumption up to 10%. LÄS MER
5. On Optimal Mission Planning for Vehicles over Long-distance Trips
Sammanfattning : This thesis proposes a mission planner for vehicles over long-distance trips, for finding the optimal trade-off between trip time, energy efficiency, and driver comfort, subject to road information, traffic situations, and weather conditions. The mission planner consists of three components, i.e. LÄS MER
