16. Climate influenced deposition on a low latitude Sheinwoodian carbonate ramp, Gotland, Sweden
Sammanfattning : The Sheinwoodian succession of Gotland comprises the Högklint, Tofta and Hangvar Formations and most of the Slite Group. The succession consists of hierarchically ordered shallow marine depositional cycles, produced by orbitally forced climate changes. LÄS MER
17. Imaging diffusional variance by MRI [public] : The role of tensor-valued diffusion encoding and tissue heterogeneity
Sammanfattning : Diffusion MRI provides a non-invasive probe of tissue microstructure. We recently proposed a novel method for diffusion-weighted imaging, so-called q-space trajectory encoding, that facilitates tensor-valued diffusion encoding. LÄS MER
18. Thermohydrodynamics of sliding contacts with textured surfaces
Sammanfattning : Hydrodynamic sliding contacts like those found in journal or thrust bearings are frequently encountered in various types of machinery from computers to large turbines. These contacts, involving a variation in film thickness, are used to generate pressure in the lubricant film and separate the surfaces in relative motion. LÄS MER
19. A Study of Smooth Functions and Differential Equations on Fractals
Sammanfattning : In 1989 Jun Kigami made an analytic construction of a Laplacian on the Sierpiński gasket, a construction that he extended to post critically finite fractals. Since then, this field has evolved into a proper theory of analysis on fractals. The new results obtained in this thesis are all in the setting of Kigami's theory. LÄS MER
20. The Greenhouse - Icehouse Transition : a dinoflagellate perspective
Sammanfattning : Through the analysis of the stratigraphic and spatial distribution of organic walled dinoflagellate cysts (dinocysts) from climatologically and oceanographically key sites, this project aims to contribute to a better understanding of the Eocene-Oligocene (E/O) environmental changes and their timing. A central issue is to identify the global environmental changes which are responsible for the Eocene cooling and its underlying mechanisms with the focus on the Oligocene isotope-1 (Oi-1) event, thought to mark the onset of major Antarctic glaciation.
