  1. 1. Heterotopic bone formation following total hip arthroplasty : clinical and experimental studies using NSAID and patelet-derived growth factor

    Författare :Olof Risto; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : A consecutive series of 104 Lubinus IP arthroplasties was retrospectively studied with regard to heterotopic bone formation (HBF). Fifty-three cases were treated for 10 ± 2 days postoperatively with the NSAID oxyphenbutazone. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On nano size structures for enhanced bone formation

    Författare :Luiz Meirelles; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nano structures; nanotopography; surface modification; osseointegration; bone tissue; titanium implants;

    Sammanfattning : Purpose The general aim of the present thesis was to investigate early bone response to titanium implants modified with nano size structures. Therefore, 1. a model to evaluate titanium implants modified with nano size structures was validated; 2. a suitable detection method of nano size structures was implemented. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Methods for evaluation of early bone healing at titanium implants

    Författare :Karin Hederstierna; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TOF-SIMS; titanium; porosity; Magnesium; hydroxyapatite; implant surface; bone resorption; bone formation;

    Sammanfattning : Titanium has for a long time been the implant material of choice when in need for abilities as strength, biocompatibility and stability. Although numbers of studies have been made, little is known about the early events in implant healing. The primary aim in this thesis was to develop methods for evaluating bone healing around implants. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Mechanisms of Osseointegration: Experimental Studies on Early Cellular and Molecular Events in vivo

    Författare :Omar Omar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Osseointegration; titanium; bone; gene expression; bone-implant interface; qPCR; inflammation; cytokine; chemotaxis; chemokine; integrin; bone formation; remodeling; in vivo; rat; immunohistochemistry; ultrastructure; biomechanical torque test;

    Sammanfattning : The early cellular and molecular activities determining the early tissue response and bone formation at bone/implant interface are not fully understood. The general aim of the current thesis was to develop a model for studying the early molecular and cellular activities in different bone types, and in response to different implant surface properties. 5. 5. Healing of endosseous implants with different surface characteristics in grafted and non-grafted bone : clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Måns Jungner; Stefan Lundgren; Malou Hultcrantz; Carina Lundqvist; Peter Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dental implants; surface characteristics; bone graft; maxillary sinus; implant survival; oxidized surface; turned surface; sinus membrane elevation; bone formation; macrophages; osteocalcin; osteopontin; CD68; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: This study uses radiological and clinical evaluations of the healing of endosseous titanium implants presented with different surface characteristics in the clinical situation (paper I-III) and experimentally to describe the early bone healing in maxillary sinus membrane elevation with and without the use of grafting material (paper IV).Material and methods: In paper I, 136 patients were treated with 394 dental implants – 199 were oxidized titanium implants (Nobel Biocare TiUnite) and 195 were turned titanium surface implants (Nobel Biocare Mark III).
