1. Analysis and Applications of the Heterogeneous Multiscale Methods for Multiscale Elliptic and Hyperbolic Partial Differential Equations
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the applications and analysis of the Heterogeneous Multiscale methods (HMM) for Multiscale Elliptic and Hyperbolic Partial Differential Equations. We have gathered the main contributions in two papers. LÄS MER
2. Agro-Waste Derived Additives for Polylactide and Tapioca Starch
Sammanfattning : Development of materials from renewable resources is one of the big challenges facing our world. In this thesis agro-industrial waste derivatives were developed and evaluated as additives for two common renewable polymer matrices, polylactide (PLA) and starch. Two waste products, wood flour (WF) and rice bran (RB) were evaluated in different forms. LÄS MER
3. Microstructural Evolution In As-cast Alloys during Plastic Deformation
Sammanfattning : The effect of deformation on microstructural changes in metals and alloys is the subject of considerable practical interest. The ultimate goal is to control, improve and optimize the microstructure and texture of the finished products produced by metal forming operations. LÄS MER
4. Active Control and Reduced-Order Modeling of Transition in Shear Flows
Sammanfattning : In this thesis direct numerical simulation is used to investigate the possibilityto delay the transition from laminar to turbulent in boundary layer flows.Furthermore, modal analysis is used to reveal the coherent structures in highdimensional dynamical systems arising in the flow problems. 5. Numerical Investigation of Rotating and Stratified Turbulence
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric and oceanic flows are strongly affected by rotation and stratification. Rotation is exerted through Coriolis forces which mainly act in horizontal planes whereas stratification largely affects the motion along the vertical direction through buoyancy forces, the latters related to the vertical variation of the fluid density.
