1. The clinical value of total isovolumic time
Sammanfattning : The objective of this thesis is to evaluate the use of Doppler echocardiography markers ofglobal dyssynchrony [total isovolumic time (t-IVT)] in the following 6 studies: 1) Its prognostic role in predicting cardiac events in patients undergoing CABG surgery, compared with conventional global systolic and diastolic measurements. 2) Its additional value in predicting six minute walk test (6-MWT) in patients with leftventricular (LV) ejection fraction (EF) . 2. Electromechanical effects and optimization modalities of cardiac resynchronization therapy
Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Heart failure is a major health care problem, with high morbidity and mortality rates. In recent years, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) has become an established additive treatment for patients with advanced heart failure, left ventricular (LV) dysfunction, and wide QRS complex. 3. Quantitative echocardiographic methods for patients with acute coronary syndrome
Sammanfattning : Background: The aim of this thesis was to evaluate two diagnostic and two prognostic quantitative echocardiographic methods for patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: Velocity tracking (VeT) presents the longitudinal tissue Doppler velocities of the left ventricle (LV) as a bull’s eye plot giving an easy three dimensional understanding of both the global and regional function of the LV in regard to longitudinal velocities, systolic as well as diastolic. 4. Evaluation of Myocardial Function in Chronic Kidney Disease : A Colour Tissue Velocity Imaging Study
Sammanfattning : In patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), overhydration, uremic toxins and left ventricular (LV) dyssynchrony are factors that may lead to LV dysfunction and conduction abnormalities and thus contribute to the high cardiac mortality. Colour tissue velocity imaging (TVI) allows a detailed quantitative analysis of cardiac function in CKD patients, opening new possibilities to evaluate longitudinal myocardial motion, rapid isovolumetric events, LV filling pressure and LV synchronicity. 5. Assessment of Ventricular Function in Normal and Failing Hearts Using 4D Flow CMR
Sammanfattning : Heart failure is a common disorder and a major cause of illness and death in the population, creating an enormous health-care burden. It is a complex condition, representing the end-point of many cardiovascular diseases. LÄS MER
