  1. 11. Modelling of dynamic and quasistatic events with special focus on wood-drying distortions

    Författare :Mats Ekevad; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals mainly with computer simulations of wood-drying distortions, especially twist. The reason for this is that such distortions often appear in dried timber, and the results are quality downgrades and thus value losses in the wood value chain. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Soil identification by vibration measurements during soil-rock sounding

    Författare :Editha Ehrmanntraut; Stefan Larsson; Jörgen Johansson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ground vibrations; dynamic penetration testing; frequency; seismic test; vibration velocity; in-situ tests; markvibrationer; dynamiska sonderingsmetoder; frekvens; seismiska försök; vibrationshastighet; in-situ-försök; Jord- och bergmekanik; Soil and Rock Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Dynamic penetration tests are frequently used as geotechnical site investigation methods. In Sweden, the main reason to choose a dynamic penetration method is to investigatedepth to bedrock, strength and deformation properties of soil, compaction, or pilingdepth. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Modelling and strength grading of structural timber and glulam lamellae on the basis of optical scanning and dynamic excitation

    Författare :Andreas Briggert; Anders Olsson; Jan Oscarsson; Mikael Perstorper; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fibre direction; finger joint; machine strength grading; knots; tracheid effect; Norway spruce; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Machine strength grading of sawn timber is a sawmill process in which density, modulus of elasticity (MOE) and bending or tensile strength are predicted such that the timber can be assigned to strength classes. The predictions of these properties are performed using one or several so-called indicating properties (IPs), which represent a board property, or combination of board properties, measured non-destructively. 4. 14. Long-term development, modeling and management of nutrient loading to inland and coastal waters

    Författare :Amelie Darracq; Georgia Destouni; Andrea Rinaldo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Nutrients; catchments; environmental management; climate change; population and lifestyle development; subsurface-surface water interactions; long-term simulations; nutrient retention; modeling; hydrology; transport processes; biogeochemistry; scaling; transport and reaction rates; Physical Geography; geografi med naturgeografisk inriktning;

    Sammanfattning : Environmental and water system protection and restoration require accurate knowledge and quantification of waterborne pollutant transport, retention-release and transformation processes taking place in the subsurface, river, lake and sea water systems, and at the interfaces between these systems. This thesis investigates the importance of spatial model resolution for such quantification and the possible long-term nutrient load development under different human perturbations and nutrient source management scenarios in the Swedish Norrström drainage basin, based on simulations with the GIS-based dynamic nutrient transport-attenuation model POLFLOW. 5. 15. Physical process effects on catchment-scale pollutant transport-attenuation, coastal loading and abatement efficiency

    Författare :Georg Lindgren; Georgia Destouni; Roko Andricevic; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Efficient pollutant load abatement; groundwater-surface water interactions; biogeochemical cycles; nitrogen; Lagrangian stochastic travel time approach; GIS; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Pollutants follow various subsurface and surface water pathways from sources within a catchment to its outlet and may cause detrimental effects on downstream water quality and ecosystems. Along their different transport pathways through a catchment, pollutants may be attenuated subject to different physical and biogeochemical processes. LÄS MER
