16. What keeps play alive? : A Dynamic Systems approach to playing interactions of young newcomer children in Sweden
Sammanfattning : The study is a theoretically driven research project with the intention to apply the Dynamic Systems (DS) approach to play in relation to the time of transition of newcomer children to Swedish Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC). The aim of the study is first to contribute to knowledge about how play emerges and how to understand its dynamics, and second to explore the possibilities of the DS approach in connection to empirical investigations in the field of ECEC. 17. Pautas argumentativas en el diálogo espontáneo : un estudio de conversaciones intra e interculturales
Sammanfattning : The present study aims to develop a method for the analysis of argumentative patterns in spontaneous dialogue (Chapters 1-3), and to apply this method to samples of face-to-face interaction (Chapters 4-7). The purpose of the applied study is twofold: to evaluate the proposed method and to provide a contrastive description of the communicative style of Swedish and Spanish speakers in intra- and intercultural same-gender and mixed-gender dialogues. 18. Global patterns of international fisheries conflict
Sammanfattning : Are international conflicts over fishery resources a growing security concern? High-profile incidences of conflict, diminishing fishery resources and climate impacts on marine systems have made the international community increasingly wary of fisheries conflict. However, we lack knowledge on conflict incidences over time, as well as the contexts in which the conflicts occur, to assess if fisheries conflict is a growing security threat. LÄS MER
19. Modelling Towards Control of Dynamic Systems : Applications on RDF Fired CFB Performance and DHN Distribution
Sammanfattning : The combination of global warming along with increasing energy demand necessitates the importance of improving processes pertaining to the production and consumption of energy in combined heat and power plants. This thesis brings to light transient factors currently burdening process performance for circulating fluidized bed boilers (CFBs) combusting refuse derived fuels (RDFs) and district heating networks (DHN). 20. Dynamic modeling of Internet congestion control
Sammanfattning : The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) has successfully governed the Internet congestion control for two decades. It is by now, however, widely recognized that TCP has started to reach its limits and that new congestion control protocols are needed in the near future. LÄS MER
