  1. 6. Prediction of disease progression in early rheumatoid arthritis. A study of some imaging and laboratory variables

    Författare :Kristina Forslind; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; rheumatology locomotion; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi; muscle system; Skeleton; Rheumatoid arthritis; MRI; Reduced bone mass; Disease prediction; Anti-CCP; DEXA DXA;

    Sammanfattning : Objective: To investigate the role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), assessment of bone mineral density (BMD) and antibodies to citrullinated proteins (anti-CCP) in predicting radiologic outcome in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Patients: All patients were included in the BARFOT programme (baseline). LÄS MER

  2. 7. Psoriasis : studies of phenotype at onset and of associated cardiovascular morbidity

  3. 8. Immunopathology of the Pancreas in Type 1 Diabetes

    Författare :Anna Wiberg; Olle Korsgren; Oskar Skog; Åke Lernmark; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) results from a loss of functional insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells. The etiology of T1D is poorly understood, but the detection of infiltrating inflammatory cells in the pancreas and circulating autoantibodies has led to the common notion that an autoimmune process plays a central role in the pathogenesis of the disease. 4. 9. Socioeconomic Consequences of Childhood Onset Type 1 Diabetes – a case study of the impact of an early life health shock

    Författare :Sofie Persson; Hälsoekonomi; []
    Nyckelord :Type 1 diabetes; health; socioeconomic outcomes; education; employment; earnings;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong, chronic disease, that generally has a sudden onset early in life, which changes the conditions for the affected child and the child’s family. The overall purpose of this thesis was to explore the socioeconomic consequences of childhood onset type 1 diabetes and through this investigate how an early life health shock can affect adult socioeconomic status. Sammanfattning : Background and aims: The overall aim of this thesis was to increase knowledge regarding the occurrence of childhood onset T1D and T2D in Sweden and in relation to that describe and elucidate important aspects on two grave complications to diabetes; end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and mortality. The two first studies included in this thesis aimed to describe and analyze the cumulative incidence of childhood onset T1D in Sweden and to assess the occurrence of undetected T2D in Swedish children.
